TERROR THREAT: Alert in Gujarat’s Kheda district following terror threat!

For LEED Consultancy, Green Building Design, Green Homes, Green Factory Buildings, Green SEZs, Green Townships,

PTI / The Hindu / AHMEDABAD, July 31, 2011.

An alert has been sounded and security cover increased in Kheda district after an anonymous letter threatening a terror attack at a temple on Independence Day was received, police said today.
The state-level Independence Day function is to be held in Kheda district this year.
“Yesterday, a letter was received by the office of Trust, which is managing the famous Lord Krishna temple in Dakore. The latter said that the temple would be blown up on August 15,” Kheda SP G.L. Singhal said.
The police, however, also suspect this to be a prank.
“Looking at the content of the letter, which was written in incorrect English, the whole thing seems to be a prank. But since the state-level function for the Independence Day is to be held here, we are not taking it lightly,” he said. “Security has been intensified across Kheda district. Additional security personnel have been deployed at the Dakore temple,” Mr. Singhal said.

AWOL Soldier Charged With Ft. Hood Terror Plot Watch Video

A U.S. serviceman is in custody after he allegedly admitted he was planning an attack on his fellow servicemen at the U.S. Army base at Fort Hood, Texas, the same base where 13 people were killed in a 2009 terror attack.

U.S. officials told ABC News an AWOL soldier, identified by the FBI as a Private First Class Naser Jason Abdo, was arrested Wednesday after making a purchase at Guns Galore in Killeen, Texas, the same ammunition store where Maj. Nidal Hasan purchased the weapons he allegedly used to gun down 13 people and wound 32 others on Nov. 5, 2009. According to one senior official, Abdo has also mentioned the name of high profile al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki -- the same man investigators said inspired the previous Fort Hood attack along with other potentially deadly terror plots in the U.S. -- though no direct link between Abdo and Awlaki has been found.

Abdo, 21, allegedly told law enforcement he wanted to "get even" and was targeting Ft. Hood because of the previous attack there, according to law enforcement documents obtained by ABC News. The documents say he did not plan to attack the base itself, but instead planned to plant two bombs at a nearby restaurant popular with Ft. Hood personnel.

He hoped to detonate both at the target location before using a pistol to shoot survivors, according to the documents. Abdo had gone AWOL over the July 4 weekend from Fort Campbell's 101st Airborne Division in Kentucky over 800 miles away.

When he was arrested, Abdo was in possession of large quantities of ammunition, weapons and what appeared to be the makings of a bomb, according to early accounts from law enforcement. He had also apparently purchased an Army uniform with Fort Hood patches from a local surplus store.

PAK CAULDRON: Intercepts show Pak handlers guiding terrorists in Kashmir!!

Sudhi Ranjan Sen, Updated: July 26, 2011 19:00 IST.

New Delhi:  The Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan will meet in New Delhi on Wednesday. High on the agenda is a discussion on terror.

India has repeatedly warned that Pakistan must stop cross-border terrorism. The latest evidence accessed by NDTV shows how Pakistan continues to support groups like the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jaish-e-Mohammed, and how terrorist attacks that play out in Kashmir are directed carefully from across the Line of Control (LoC).

Gunshots are heard in quick succession as a man says, "We have been trapped ... they have killed two ...can you hear the firing going on?" This is the voice of Saquid, a terrorist of the LeT, updating his Pakistani handler on July 15 as he exchanged fire with the Indian Army. Hours later, he would be shot dead in along with four other terrorists in the Kupwara's Lolab Valley, in a town 120 km from Srinagar. One soldier was also killed, four were injured.

The terrorists were holed up in a house owned by civilians.

As the battle between the terrorists and the Army raged, Indian intelligence officials used radio intercepts to monitor the conversations between of the terrorists.

As Indian troops slowly closed in, Saquib tells his handler, "Don't worry we will try to get out of this ...even if we don't get out, don't worry." His handler asks, "Who is firing now?"  Saquib responds, "The military."

The day, they stop fomenting terror in their neighbourhood, they own county would become free of any terror!

A Norwegian man lights a candle to pay tribute to victims of the twi attacks near the Domkirke church on Friday, in Central Oslo, Norway on Saturday - AP.

A police operation is under way in Oslo on Sunday and an official said it was related to a bombing on government headquarters. The explosion was followed by a shooting spree, and the twin attacks have shaken the peaceful nation.
Survivors of the massacre have said there were two assailants, and police were looking for a second suspect. One man has already been charged.
Police spokesman Anders Fridenberg said that the operation was eastern Oslo, but he would not give any further details. The neighbourhood appeared to be residential.
On Friday, a bomb rocked central Oslo, killing seven people. Hours later, gunman opened fire on a nearby island that was hosting a retreat for members of the left0leaning Labour Party’s youth wing. At least 85 people died there.
The man blamed for the attacks said he was motivated by a desire to bring about a revolution in Norwegian society, his lawyer said Sunday.
A manifesto published online -- which police are poring over and said was posted the day of the attack -- ranted that the European elite, “multiculturalists” and “enablers of Islamization” would be punished for their “treasonous acts.” Police have not confirmed that their suspect, 32-year-old Anders Behring Breivik, wrote the document, but his lawyer referred to it and said Breivik had been working on it for years.
Police and his lawyer have said that Breivik confessed to the twin attacks, but denied criminal responsibility for a day that was the deadliest ever in peacetime. He has been charged with terrorism and will be arraigned on Monday.

OSLO — The Norwegian man charged Saturday with a pair of attacks in Oslo that killed at least 92 people left behind a detailed manifesto outlining his preparations and calling for a Christian war to defend Europe against the threat of Muslim domination, according to Norwegian and American officials familiar with the investigation.

As stunned Norwegians grappled with the deadliest attack in the country since World War II, a portrait began to emerge of the suspect, Anders Behring Breivik, 32. The police identified him as a right-wing fundamentalist Christian, while acquaintances described him as a gun-loving Norwegian obsessed with what he saw as the threats of multiculturalism and Muslimimmigration.
“We are not sure whether he was alone or had help,” a police official, Roger Andresen, said at a televised news conference. “What we know is that he is right wing and a Christian fundamentalist.”
In the 1,500-page manifesto, posted on the Web hours before the attacks, Mr. Breivik recorded a day-by-day diary of months of planning for the attacks, and claimed to be part of a small group that intended to “seize political and military control of Western European countries and implement a cultural conservative political agenda.”
He predicted a conflagration that would kill or injure more than a million people, adding, “The time for dialogue is over. We gave peace a chance. The time for armed resistance has come.”

TERROR ON NORWAY: For Norway gunman, it was 'cruel but necessary'!

Agence France-Presse, Updated: July 24, 2011 13:54 IST.

Oslo:  The suspect in Norway's twin attacks that killed at least 92 people admitted responsibility and said the carnage was long planned as the nation mourned victims of its worst violence since World War II.

Anders Behring Breivik, 32, was arrested for allegedly shooting at least 85 people dead at a youth Labour Party meeting on an island and killing seven more in a car bomb explosion which ripped through government buildings in Oslo.

"He admitted responsibility," Behring Breivik's lawyer Geir Lippestad told Norwegian media. While there was no official confirmation of the man's identity, he was widely named as Anders Behring Breivik by local media.

"He feels that it was cruel to have to carry out these acts but that, in his head, it was necessary," Lippestad said. Oslo police spokeswoman Viola Bjelland told AFP on Sunday that the suspect was "cooperative."

King Harald V, Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and other ministers were to attend mass at Oslo cathedral on Sunday morning.

A rambling 1,500-page tract apparently written by Behring Breivik said he has been preparing the "martyrdom operation" since at least autumn 2009.

The Internet document -- part diary, part bomb-making manual and part political rant in which he details his Islamophobia - explains how he set up front mining and farming businesses to prepare the attacks for which he was arrested on Friday.

Pentagon to monitor ‘new battleground’ of social media

The Pentagon is asking experts to help figure out how to detect and counter propaganda on social media networks in the aftermath of the Arab uprising.
The US military's high-tech research wing, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), has sent a request for experts to look at 'a new science of social networks' that would attempt to get ahead of the curve of events unfolding on new media.
The program aims to track ‘purposeful or deceptive messaging and misinformation" in social networks and to pursue’. According to DARPA's request for proposals issued on July 14, the program will also help ‘counter messaging of detected adversary influence operations’, The Telegraph reports.
Some senior US officials have spoken of the need to better track unrest revealed in social networks and to look for ways to shape outcomes in the Arab world through Twitter, Facebook or YouTube.

ANANTH KRISHNAN / tHE hINDU / BEIJING, July 21, 2011.

Officials on Wednesday said this week's attack on a police station in China's far western Xinjiang region had been “masterminded” by terrorist groups, while security analysts here suggested separatist groups active in Pakistan had a role in the violence.
Officials raised the death toll from Monday's attack in Hotan, a city in southern Xinjiang, to 18. While police shot down 14 “rioters”, four others, including two women, were killed in the attack.
Hou Hanmin, the head of the regional information office in Hotan, told The Hindu in a telephone interview that the attackers were “organised”, and armed with knives and grenades.
The rioters had entered a nearby government office before attacking and setting fire to a police station. They had taken six hostages before the police shot 14 of the 18 reported attackers, according to official accounts.
“They held up a banner calling for ‘holy war',” said Ms. Hou. “The attack was brutal and ruthless. This was clearly an attack masterminded by terrorist groups.”

Uttar Pradesh Police are probing two mysterious calls that asked a meat trader in Meerut and a farmer in Baghpat to plant bombs. Both the calls have been traced to Iran but routed through the US, an official said.
This suggested that the calls were made from the US against SIM cards issued in Iran, the official said.
The first call was received by Hashim Ilahi, a meat trader in Ismail Nagar locality of Meerut city, about 400 km from here on July 13.
Two days later, on July 15, a similar call was received by Vikas, a young farmer living in Soop village in neighbouring Baghpat district, said state special director general of police Brij Lal.
Both Vikas and Hashim claimed to have been offered huge amounts of money to plant explosives and bombs in different parts of Meerut city.

MEENA MENON / The Hindu / MUMBAI, July 10, 2011.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: Chiraj Chouhan, 25, who rebuilt his life after suffering a special cord injury in the serial train blast on July 11, 2006. Photo: Special Arrangement - The Hindu.

When 25-year-old Chirag Chauhan looks back over the last five years that changed his life, many emotions come to his mind. “It seems like a long journey,” he told The Hindu on the phone. Mr. Chauhan was among the survivors of the serial train blasts on July 11, 2006 which claimed over 180 lives. That day he had left for home early when a bomb exploded in the suburban local at Khar Road station. His spinal cord was damaged due to the explosion and some particles are still embedded in his chest and close to the trachea.
Mr. Chauhan, who dreamt of becoming a chartered accountant (CA), was doing his articleship then. He has made an amazing recovery. Wheelchair-bound now, he is a full-fledged CA working as a senior manager in the internal audit division of a private bank for one and a half years. He even drives the 20 minutes to his office in a specially designed car with a dual system which can be operated with his hands. He has little time for hobbies but could not resist driving to Lonavla, a hill station outside Mumbai, recently. “I wanted to see how far I could drive and it was a test for me,” he said. It was a fun trip with his friends.
Immediately after the terror strike, Mr. Chauhan, like many others, spent long months in hospital; but he maintains he was optimistic from the start. In an emailed statement to all those who have kept in touch with him and followed his case, he quotes Winston Churchill, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.”
Despite his debilitating injures, he pressed on with his course and completed it on July 12, 2008. “To continue where others thought “It is impossible” — that's one thing I dared to do,” he says. He lost his father when he was 18 and was faced with the prospect of looking after his sisters and mother, something he can proudly do now.
Mr. Chauhan considered himself an average student and it was only in the tenth standard final examination that he managed a first class. His determination to do his CA led him to do his articleship and things were going well. “July 11, 2006, was a day like any other day for the rest of the world. I went to work in the morning and caught an early train back home as my work was over. I never thought in my wildest dreams that it would be my last train journey,” he says.

Its one thing to fall prey to an unsuspecting terroristic trauma but to recover from it and the physical trauma as well to continue to pursue one's life's dream and to achieve it is another thing!

Double Kudos to Chirag!!

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Saturday warned all South Asian countries against terrorism and sought united efforts to defeat the menace that has already taken a “huge toll” on the region. “The scourge of terrorism has taken a huge toll on all our society. It is a cancer that if not checked will consume us all. I would like to believe that we collectively have the will and foresight to prevent such a disastrous outcome,” Dr Singh said addressing the fifth conference of the Association of Saarc Speakers and Parliamentarians.

Dr Singh said the region will not be able to realise its full potential unless it develops a culture of solving the problems on its own while at the same time calling for resolution of “differences” among nations peacefully.

“South Asia cannot realise its full potential unless and until we resolve our differences peacefully and develop the culture of solving our problems ourselves,” he said. He also categorically stated that “others cannot solve our problems”.

How is such unity possible when the neighbouring countries shelters the secessionists of other county by calling them 'freedom fighters'?

Until and unless all members of SAARC renounce the Terrorism as an Instrument of State, the counter-terrorism shall continue to be fight of individual countries!

  • Suspected Al-Qaeda militants killed 10 soldiers when they ambushed them on a road in southern Yemen, where the jihadist network has a stronghold, a military official said on Thursday.
The gunmen opened fire on the vehicle in which the soldiers were travelling on Wednesday north of the city of Loder, in Abyan province, killing them all, the official told AFP.
Only the driver survived, although he was wounded, a medical official said.
A witness said he saw three armed men shoot at the soliders, adding they prevented people from carrying away the soldiers' bodies, only allowing them to take the driver to hospital in Loder.
An official at the hospital confirmed the wounded driver was admitted to the facility, which also later received the bodies of 10 soldiers after the attackers left the scene of the shooting.
