Legal Correspondent, The Hindu / NEW DELHI, August 7, 2011.

Disapproving of the act of an Allahabad High Court judge who threatened a CBI officer, asking him why an FIR should not be registered against him for allegedly committing a fraud on the court, the Supreme Court has expunged the observations and set aside the orders.

A Bench of Justices Altamas Kabir, Cyriac Joseph and S.S. Nijjar was hearing special leave petitions filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Javeed Ahmad, Joint Director, CBI, Lucknow Zone, against the two orders passed by Justice Vinod Prasad on July 28 and 29.

On July 28, during the hearing of a criminal revision petition, an adjournment was sought as CBI counsel Anurag Khanna was not present. However, the judge passed an order stating he was never appointed CBI counsel and that Mr. Ahmad had deceived the High Court.

Justice Prasad directed him to be present in court to explain his conduct and why an FIR should not be directed to be registered against him and why his removal should not be recommended to the Union government and the Ministry concerned?

As Mr. Ahmed did not appear the next day, the judge posted the matter for his appearance on August 1.

KASHMIR: Govt fears threat to life of ex-militants!

For LEED Consultancy, Green Building Design, Green Homes, Green Factory Buildings, Green SEZs, Green Townships,

August 1, 2011 / By Namrata Biji Ahuja, Correspondent, New Delhi / DC.

India is concerned about the security of former militants and their families who are living in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and are seeking its help to return to the Valley. The ambitious rehabilitation policy of the government has drawn 700 applications from militants who hail from J&K but have been living in PoK for past many years. While the response is encouraging, the Indian security establishment is concerned that such militants whose names have been cleared may already be under surveillance by elements in Pakistan which do not want their smooth return to the Valley. Besides giving them a “safe’’ passage, proper identification and background checks of all such militants who claim to have given up militancy and are promising to lead a peaceful life is proving to be a tedious task for Indian agencies who are treading cautiously on allowing their return to the Valley.
Government sources said that the activities of the Indian high commission in Islamabad could also possibly be under the scanner for its role in facilitating the process. The home ministry is expected to convene a meeting with representatives of the ministry of external affairs and J&K government shortly to chalk out a way forward.
A government official said efforts are on to muster support from the Pakistani government but conceded that the “diplomatic’’ process may take time. “If any of these militants are killed, their families would immediately blame the government. We need to proceed cautiously and ensure their safe return,” an official said. Sources in the security agencies are also not ruling out efforts by the ISI-backed terror outfits like the LeT to try to create trouble along the way.

TERROR THREAT: Alert in Gujarat’s Kheda district following terror threat!

For LEED Consultancy, Green Building Design, Green Homes, Green Factory Buildings, Green SEZs, Green Townships,

PTI / The Hindu / AHMEDABAD, July 31, 2011.

An alert has been sounded and security cover increased in Kheda district after an anonymous letter threatening a terror attack at a temple on Independence Day was received, police said today.
The state-level Independence Day function is to be held in Kheda district this year.
“Yesterday, a letter was received by the office of Trust, which is managing the famous Lord Krishna temple in Dakore. The latter said that the temple would be blown up on August 15,” Kheda SP G.L. Singhal said.
The police, however, also suspect this to be a prank.
“Looking at the content of the letter, which was written in incorrect English, the whole thing seems to be a prank. But since the state-level function for the Independence Day is to be held here, we are not taking it lightly,” he said. “Security has been intensified across Kheda district. Additional security personnel have been deployed at the Dakore temple,” Mr. Singhal said.

NDTV Correspondent, Updated: July 04, 2011 12:08 IST.

Hyderabad:  The Congress may manoeuvre its way towards a compromise with its partymen from Telangana, who are scheduled to quit en masse today. They say they can no longer accept the Union government's indecision on whether to create a new Telangana state.

Eight Congress MPs from Telangana who were scheduled to resign from the Lok Sabha this morning have skipped an appointment in Delhi with Speaker Meira Kumar. Andhra Pradesh has 42 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Eight of these MPs belong to the Congress and are from Telangana. In addition to their resignations, 36 Congress MLAs, of whom ten are ministers in the state government, have said they will exit today.

And in a sign that a truce is being aggressively negotiated, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "The party would like to talk to the MPs and MLAs one more time. Some of the MLAs are coming to Delhi."

The Congress camp in Andhra Pradesh is abuzz with activity with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and State party president Botsa Satyanarayana stepping in to avert a possible crisis in the wake of threat by legislators from Telangana to quit their posts in support of a separate State.

Following a directive from the Congress high command to defuse the situation, the Chief Minister swung into action and held talks with Ministers K. Jana Reddy and Sunita Laxma Reddy among others.

The PCC president too spoke to ministers P. Sudarshan Reddy, Basavaraj Saraiah and some MLAs from Telangana, who have threatened to quit on Monday if their demands are not met.

Both Mr. Kiran and Mr. Botsa reportedly tried to prevail upon the Telangana leaders not to act in haste and wait for the party high command’s decision on the contentious Statehood issue.

But the Ministers are understood to have told the Chief Minister and the PCC chief that they were under “tremendous pressure” from all sections in the region to step down from their posts as the Centre continued to defer its decision on Telangana.

By Monday Evening, most likely, everything would blow over!

The ruling Congress MPs, legislators and State ministers from Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh on Friday said that they would resign en masse on July 4 in support of their demand for a separate state.
“The people of Telangana are expecting us to quit our posts for achieving separate statehood. Due to the delay in the formation of Telangana, there is an impression that we are not quitting our posts out of lust for power,” Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy said.
“Now we are in a situation that we have to prove that we are not hankering for power. Hence we decided to submit our resignations on July 4,” he said after a meeting of the leaders from the region attended by seven MPs, 18 MLAs, nine MLCs and nine ministers.
Mr. Reddy made it clear that they’ll remain in Congress and work for achieving Telangana and strengthening the party.
The decision to resign “has been taken keeping people’s aspirations in mind and it is hoped that the party leadership would understand our predicament,” he said.
The Telangana Congress leaders have been pleading with the central leadership for the last two years to implement the announcement made by the Centre on 9 December 2009 to form separate Telangana, Mr. Jana Reddy said.
Congress leaders from Telangana had recently met the Congress leadership in Delhi and set a June end deadline to take a positive decision. They had threatened to take harsh steps if a final decision was not taken within the period.

This talk is no news to the people of Andhra Pradesh and especially of Telengana as they have been issuing such threats on several occasion in the past and always their 'high-command' made them retract.

Anyway, 4th. is not too far; lets wait and see!

The TRS chief Chandrasekhara Rao asserted that people of Telangana would never accept a regional development council, as suggested by the Justice Srikrishna Committee.
Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao today warned that Telangana would burn if the Centre chose to constitute a regional development council and did not keep its promise of carving out a separate state.
“I would like to humbly submit to the Prime Minister...it was you who made the promise on December 9, 2009 (on creating Telangana state). If you do any ‘hera pheri’, Telangana will not tolerate you. You will see a burning Telangana. The hearts of four crore Telangana people will burn and you alone will be responsible for what happens,” he said.

GROUNDED SHIP: Damaged merchant ship may prove headache for Mumbai!

Have you read, “Mayhem of the Miserables!” available @ http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

India Today India West Story.

The ship, MV Wisdom drifted dangerously close to the Bandra-Worli sealink.

What began as a scare for Mumbai's iconic sea link has now turned into a 9,000-tonne headache for Mumbai. The merchant ship that ran aground off Mumbai's Juhu coast may be too damaged to be moved from its present location.
In fact, sources suggest that the ship is likely to be grounded there for several days and with India's record of not be able to remove grounded ship from the coastline, this could well become a 145-metre eyesore for Mumbaikars.
One of the options could be to dismantle the ship on the spot. But environmentalists fear that this could prove hazardous.
Should be towed to Alnag port using heavy duty tug-boat and dismantle it there, where hopefully, they have better disaster containing knowledge and equipments.

Ramdev's Fast: Fast hasn't ended, they wanted to kill me: Ramdev!

Please Join India’s Anti-corruption Movement; Kindly sign “Save Lokpal Bill” @

Cops evict supporters of yoga guru Baba Ramdev from the 'fast-unto-death' at Ramlila Maidan grounds, in New Delhi - AFP.

A visibly emotional Baba Ramdev on Sunday accused the central government of betraying him and trying to kill him.
Upon reaching his ashram in this pilgrim city Sunday after being evicted from Delhi, he also insisted that his fast against corruption had not ended. "They wanted to kidnap me and kill me or send me somewhere," a sore throated and at times teary eyed Baba Ramdev said at a press conference in Hardwar.
"My fast has not ended," he said about the hunger strike against corruption which he had launched at the Delhi Ramlila ground Saturday but which was halted by police action on him and his supporters.
As I watched on the telly, I found him visibly shaken and as for his allegation that his life was under threat from this government, his repeated lies aren't make them truth.
Indian Governments can be accused of many ills but do not bump off its opponents, the way it is done elsewhere.  Besides his life is not worth snuffing by anybody.
He still needs to explain, why he has gone ahead with his fast-drama, while he had already received assurance from the Government of acceptance of 99% of all his demands, to which effect he has also given them a written undertaking and why he has suppressed all these fact from his supporters and public?

With the Government refusing to talk with him and his rants & chants being ignored by the media, he would soon fade away into oblivion.

WASHINGTON | Mon May 23, 2011 5:49pm EDT.

(Reuters) - No evidence of specific or imminent threats has emerged yet from material confiscated from Osama bin Laden's Pakistani hideout, Western counter-terrorism officials said, raising questions about how directly he was in control of al Qaeda.

Aides to President Barack Obama have said that evidence seized in the U.S. commando raid on bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, suggests that despite years of isolation, bin Laden maintained an "operational" relationship with al Qaeda elements in the field.

But officials familiar with the latest analyses of the bin Laden trove, believed to include large volumes of electronic data, say that while bin Laden apparently was involved in brainstorming possible attacks, scant evidence has surfaced that he was involved in any plot under way.

"I haven't heard anything about imminent threats," said Peter Bergen, a counter-terrorism expert at the New American Foundation who once interviewed bin Laden.
