Police Clear Tahrir Square, in Sign of Protest Movement's Decline!

CAIRO, Egypt -- Hundreds of Egyptian riot police, dressed in the black uniforms of state security and carrying batons and tear gas guns, cleared Tahrir Square of protesters on Monday. The demonstrators had occupied the square since January 25 in an ongoing, but increasingly fringe, movement against the government.

Onlookers cheered the riot police in shows of appreciation. Though protesters had massed in the millions in early February, since President Hosni Mubarak has left office and Egypt's economy has slowed, many regular Egyptians have dropped their support for the protest movement and urged daily life to return to normal.

The protesters have held the square off and on since January 25, most recently blocking it off to all traffic since July 8. Young activists -- many of whom responded with delight on finding out I was American -- had erected checkpoints around the square, controlling who could enter and checking IDs of anyone who wanted to cross. Inside the square, people camped out and chanted for the end of the military-run government that has since taken over.

But outside the square, many Egyptians expressed frustration with the protesters, arguing that it was time for them to go home. One Egyptian man told me that he'd marched in February, when one of his friends had been killed by state security, but that he had since become disillusioned with the protest movement. Ramadan, which began this morning, has already raised tensions in the city. The daily fast, the heat, and the uncertain political situation has left many Egyptians on edge.

On Monday morning, plainclothes police carrying guns ordered the protesters to leave. When many remained, dozens of police trucks parked just outside the square. Hundreds of riot police marched in Tahrir and forced out the protesters, reportedly aided by angry, club-wielding civilians. A handful of tanks and at least a few dozen men in camouflage army uniforms were also present. Though past Tahrir protests had seen thousands of peaceful demonstrators defying police and remaining in the square by virtue of their sheer numbers, the increasingly small demonstration appeared to have been dispersed quickly.

EGYPTIAN REVOLUTION-II: Acquittals of Ex-Officials Feed Anger Across Egypt!

CAIRO — An Egyptian criminal court on Tuesday acquitted three former government ministers of corruption while convicting a fourth in absentia, verdicts most likely to further inflame public anger over the pace of efforts to hold former officials accountable for killing more than 800 people during the country’s 18-day revolution.

The acquittals were seen as especially provocative because they followed by one day a separate Cairo court decision to release on bail seven police officers charged with killing 17 protesters and wounding 350 in the city of Suez during the revolution. That decision set off a riot at the courthouse and led protesters to block a major highway for hours.
The decisions have aggravated growing anger at the military council now running the country. It has faced mounting criticism from protesters who say it is too slow to prosecute former officials, yet has moved quickly and aggressively to prosecute hundreds of civilians before military courts in connection with pro-democracy activities.
“People see more and more that nothing is changing,” said Lilian Wagdy, who is helping to organize a large protest in Tahrir Square on Friday. “Those who have been robbing this country for 30 years get acquitted, while protesters are found guilty before military courts.”
Egyptian officials have increasingly struggled to contain deep public anger and frustration. Those demanding political change are angry over alleged rights violations and unsatisfactory trials. Others are fed up with the post-revolutionary uncertainty and crippled economy. Their sentiments often erupt in violence, sometimes pitting policemen against protesters, and civilians against civilians.
A coalition of human rights groups sued the military council on Tuesday on behalf of a woman they said was tried before a military court in March, tortured and forced to submit to a “virginity test” within view and earshot of military prison workers.
Violence has also continued in the capital. On Saturday, 47 people were injured when protesters in Tahrir Square clashed with tea vendors they accused of being agents planted by the police.

PTI / The Hindu.

Four soldiers and 25 Taliban fighters were on Sunday killed in clashes in the restive Mohmand tribal region, where the Pakistani security forces carried out a ground and air offensive to capture a mountain occupied by the rebels.
The Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and the Pakistan Air Force launched a joint operation on Saturday to evict terrorists from their stronghold of Walidad in Mohmand Agency, the military said.
After intense fighting, the troops secured Walidad Top, a strategic mountain, and surrounding areas after killing 25 terrorists.
Four soldiers were killed and eight more injured in the clashes, the military said.
The remaining militants in the area “fled across the border”, the military said.

Once, USA quits Afghanistan in favour of Taliban, the situation could be even worse!

Rebels near mosque captured from pro-Gaddafi forces, between Misrata and Zlitan (18 June 2011)
Libyan rebels say this mosque, outside Misrata, was used as a snipers' nest by pro-Gaddafi forces.
Nato has accused Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi of using mosques and children's parks as shields as his forces "systematically and brutally" attack the Libyan people.
The statement came in response to Libyan charges that Nato deliberately targeted civilian buildings.
Libya has insisted it is in talks with rebels, despite their denials.
Rebels also say their administration is running out of cash as donors' pledges have not materialised.
, said his administration had run out of cash and had not yet received any of the funds promised by donors.
Well, would it stop NATO from bombing?

Syrian Resistance: Syrian troops seize restive northern town!

Have you read, “Mayhem of the Miserables!” available @ http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

By Sunday, June 12,  11:24 PM.

BEIRUT — Syrian troops seized control of the northern town of Jisr al-Shughour on Sunday after almost all of the few residents who had remained behind fled north toward the Turkish border.
The Associated Press quoted its correspondent traveling with the troops as saying the Syrian military was in full control of the town. The Local Coordinating Committees, which represents activist groups around Syria, also said it appeared the town was now firmly in army hands.
A resident observing the town through binoculars from a nearby hillside said tanks had been demolishing houses earlier in the morning, that he could still hear occasional bursts of automatic fire and that black plumes of smoke were rising from the town.
But it did not appear that the few residents who had remained behind to defend the town had put up a fight, he said, speaking by telephone. He put their number at no more than a few hundred, including around 70 defected soldiers and said he did not know what had happened to them. “They’re either dead or arrested,” he said. “There is no one left in the town.”
Earlier reports had said as many as 5,000 residents had remained behind to defend the town, but as Syrian troops closed in, many appear to have fled. Some people managed to escape in the early hours of the morning through the town’s northern exit, before the troops moved in, the resident said.
But, how long Bashar Al-Assad would be able to hold supress the onrushing mass movement for Democracy, with brutal military force?

WIKILEAKS, Pak-Cables, Dawn: Civil-military tensions over US funding for army!

Kindly review “Mayhem of the Miserables!” @ http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

By Madiha Sattar | From the Newspaper.

shaukat tarin, shaukat tareen

KARACHI: The Pakistani government had complained to the US about being unaware of American funding provided directly to the Pakistan military, reveal previously unpublished American diplomatic cables. The reports also disclose tensions between the civilian government and the army over the use funds provided for counterinsurgency operations.

In a November 2009 meeting with former US Ambassador Anne Patterson, then Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin “appealed to the ambassador to keep him informed of funds the US directs to the Pakistani military.

“Promising that he would not reduce the military’s budget based on US assistance flows, Tarin said that the finance ministry needs to be kept aware for overall budgeting purposes.  Army Chief of Staff General Kayani does not pass on this information.”

Post Re-capturing of its Mehran Naval-Air Base, Pakistan has to answer its Nuclear Safety!

Brickbats, Bouquets & Backfeeds are welcome on prmadhura@yahoo.com

It is confirmed that Pakistani Taliban run by Hakimullah Mehsud to have organised Yesterday's capture of Mehran Naval-Air Base in Karachi (which is just 15 miles from its largest & a possible Nuclear weapons depot, Masroor Air Base), while various sources mentioning the number of Terrorists involved with the Attack to have been between 6 to 20.  Finally, after sixteen hours, Pakistan naval, rangers and police commandos recaptured it, after losing 10 of their personnel and 15 to 22 wounded, along with complete damage of the twp costly P-3C Orions, maritime surveillance aircrafts given to Pakistan by the US.

So far Pakistani Authorities confirm that three militants were killed, while they believe one dead body could be busied under the rubble and two other terrorists to have fled the scene.  The terrorists have used ladders, guns, rocket-propelled grenades, who were aged between 20 to 25 years;

Key Questions:-

01)  Like Osama bin Laden wouldn't have travelled from Tora Bora Caves to Abbottabad - without the active aid of Pakistani Army and ISI (*Secret Journey of Osama Bin Laden, From Tora Bora to Abbottabad! @ http://prmadhura3.blogspot.com/2011/05/secret-journey-of-osama-bin-laden-from.html ), the Pakistani Taliban Terrorists wouldn’t have been able to capture such a crucial naval-air base of Pakistan, without the active support from within the military establishment of Pakistan;

02)  Are Pakistani citizens safe, apart from the citizens of the World, from these Terrorists?

and

03)  If terrorists could hold their crucial naval-air base for 16 hours, can the Military establishment of Pakistan protect its countries nuclear assets including nuclear power plants, nuclear bombs, nuclear missiles and the nuclear fissile materials?

Doubts are being raised by every News Channel on this Earth and Tomorrow, every News Paper will raise the same questions.

Can the Pakistan Administration assuage the fears of the World’s citizens against the Nuclear Terrorism?

Pakistani Military Setup holding Emergency meeting on Osama Bin Laden’s Killing!

General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Chief of Staff, Pakistani Army is calling for a Corps commanders' conference – to discuss the killing of Osama Bin Laden.  He has already held discussions with Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) , Lt Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha and other Corps commanders on this episode.

The meeting is more to discuss how they failed to detect the invasion of four American Navy Seals Choppers onto their territory rather than to discuss how Osama Bin Laden has been staying near Islamabad in Abbottabad Cantonment Area???

He has already lodged a strong protest with Admiral Mike Mullen of US Defense forces on violation of their Sovereignty of their to which American Authorities are absolutely non-apologetically mum.

Secret behind Osama Bin Laden's Safe House in Abbottabad, Pakistan!

First rush of locals of Abbottabad, Pakistan confirms that this Safe House, where Osama Bin Laden was killed, Yesterday, was built in 2005.

Safe house would have high and thick walls, as opposed to the normal buildings.  To build such safe house, none can avoid the general public attention as it calls for a project cycle of atleast 9 months, demanding three to four times the quantities of construction materials than required for normal buildings.

All news reports so far mention that this safe house was not having any telephone internet.  What about water connection and power connection, which a bear minimum requirement for any family to live in any house.

Besides Pakistani authorities want us to believe that the safe house was not only built about six years ago but also that the World' most wanted, international Terrorist, Osama Bin Laden (himself), his family and entourage have been living there for the last five years, all without attracting the attention and the knowledge of the Pakistani Administration, Police, Military and Intelligence Community and that too just a walkable distance from its premier Military Academy - a very convincing explanation to be believed like we have been believing the scores of lies being told to the world by them, during the last several decades.

As per their above explanation, we should believe that Pakistan is an Anarchy where anybody can walk in, occupy a land, build a safe house (for nine to twelve months) and live in it for five years, all without acquiring any building permits, material movement permits (as that is a Military Cantonment Area), get water and power connection, again without any formal application - as none required - since there is no Administration but only Anarchy prevails there.

On that count any robber can enter that country and do some business and walk out or even a rapist can enter any home in that country and do his business and leave, safely.

At the cost of being repetitive, I do not mind quoting myself in my previous post,

"I have a very strong feeling that, now, the common Pakistani citizen has been holding his head down, in shame, that his country has been a Terrorist State, which Sovereignty could be violated by USA and in due course may be by others.

And the women citizens of Pakistan, very regrettably mourn the loss of security to their honour, as any Rapist too could walk into any Pakistani home and the impotent security forces, there, could do nothing about it".
