Afghan security forces carry a wounded British man at the site of a suicide attack outside the British Council in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Friday - AP.

A group of suicide attackers stormed a British compound in the Afghan capital on Friday on the anniversary of the country’s independence from Britain, triggering a five-hour firefight that killed at least 10 people.
A spokesman for the Taliban, Zabiullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the attack on the British Council in the western part of Kabul.
The dead included eight Afghan policemen, a security guard whose nationality was not immediately known and an Afghan municipal worker, according to Kabul police official Farooq Asas. Two of four people wounded in the blasts were not Afghans, he said.
Britain’s Foreign Office said all insurgents involved in the attack were killed.
The attack started with one suicide bomber detonating an explosives-laden car outside the British Council while another suicide bomber struck inside the compound, according to Afghan police.
Afghan security forces dispatched to the scene said that at least three insurgents fought from a secure bunker inside the compound with rifles and rocket propelled grenades.
Azizullah, a policeman, said that the insurgents wrestled weapons and ammunition from the guards at the compound. Afghan men often use one name.
In London, the British Foreign Office confirmed that all British nationals were safe following the attack.
“My thoughts are with those killed and injured and their families and friends, including locals working to protect the British Council building,” Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt said. “It is a sad fact that once again an attack aimed at the international community has killed Afghans.”

IRAQ HEADACHE: 60 killed as wave of violence rolls across Iraq!

KUT, Iraq (AP) -- Bomb blasts ripped through more than a dozen Iraqi cities Monday, killing 60 security forces and civilians in the worst attack this year, one that highlighted al-Qaida's resolve and ability to wreak havoc.

The bloodbath comes less than two weeks after Iraqi officials said they would be open to a small number of U.S. forces staying in the country past a Dec. 31 withdrawal deadline.

The blasts were coordinated to go off Monday morning and included parked car bombs, roadside bombs, a suicide bomber driving a vehicle that rammed into a police station and even bombs attached to lightpoles.

The scope of the violence - seven explosions went off in different towns in Diyala province alone - emphasized that insurgents are still able to carry out attacks despite repeated crackdowns by Iraqi and U.S. forces.

Iraqis were furious at security officials and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

"Where is the government with all these explosions across the country? Where is al-Maliki? Why doesn't he come to see?" said Ali Jumaa Ziad, a shopowner in Kut, where the worst of the violence occurred. Ziad was brushing pieces of human flesh from the floor and off equipment in his shop.

Al-Maliki's spokesman and the military spokesman did not answer telephone calls.

Twin explosions rocked the market in Kut, 100 miles (160 kilometers) southeast of Baghdad, where Ziad works.

Police spokesman Lt. Col. Dhurgam Mohammed Hassan said the first bomb went off in a freezer used to keep drinks cold. As rescuers and onlookers gathered, a parked car bomb exploded; 35 people were killed and 64 injured.

Police sealed off the area where human flesh was scattered on the ground and bloodstained walls were punctured by shrapnel.

Earlier this month, Iraqi political leaders announced they would begin negotiations with the U.S. to determine whether to keep a small number of American forces in the country past Dec. 31.

All U.S. troops must leave by the end of this year, but both Iraqi and U.S. officials have expressed concern about the ability of Iraqi forces to protect the country.

Theodore Karasik, a Middle East security expert at the Dubai-based Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analyst, said al-Qaida in Iraq is trying to disrupt the internal Iraqi political process and send a message to the Americans.

"It seems that al-Qaida in Iraq is playing a propaganda game at the same time it's trying to show that it can still carry out deadly violence," Karasik said. "If the U.S. extends its military presence, al-Qaida in Iraq can use it as a tool by saying, `Look, the Americans have reversed their decision to leave and are staying on as occupiers.' They could use this as a justification for more attacks."

In Diyala province, seven bombs went off in the capital of Baquba and towns nearby, said Faris al-Azawi, the province's health spokesman. Five soldiers were killed in Baquba while five people were killed in other attacks around the province.

TERROR IN CHINA: 14 killed as attacks, blasts rock Xinjiang region!

For LEED Consultancy, Green Building Design, Green Homes, Green Factory Buildings, Green SEZs, Green Townships,

Ananth Krishnan, The Hindu / BEIJING, July 31, 2011.

At least 10 people were killed and dozens injured following knife-attacks and blasts in China's far-western Silk Road city of Kashgar on Saturday and Sunday, in the latest incidence of violence to hit the frontier Xinjiang region.
The official Xinhua news agency reported four people were also shot dead by police, after an eruption of violence in downtown Kashgar on Sunday afternoon saw “rioters” attack pedestrians and police officers, leaving at least three killed and 10 injured.
Sunday's violence followed a knife attack on Saturday night, which left seven people killed and 28 others injured, according to Xinhua.
Xinhua also reported that a series of explosions, two on Saturday night and another on Sunday, had rocked the city, but left unclear whether there were any casualties. The violence follows a July 21 attack on a police station in Hotan, which left at least 18 people killed. The attack was first blamed by the government on rioters, but later described as “a severely violent terrorism case”.
The government has blamed the unrest on separatist and terrorist groups. Xinjiang has also seen intermittent ethnic unrest between the native Uighur Muslim population and increasing number of migrants of China's majority Han Chinese ethnic group.
Xinhua said Saturday attack had been caused by two “rioters” who had hijacked a truck, stabbing its driver and then “ramming into pedestrians”. The two suspects then “jumped out of the truck and hacked the passers-by”, leaving six people killed and 28 injured. One of the attackers was also killed.
A later report said “two blasts” were heard before the incident at the same location where the truck was hijacked, without saying whether there were further casualties. Xinhua reported another blast was heard on Sunday in downtown Kashgar, with three people, including one police officer, killed.

Iraqi policemen stand at a checkpoint in Baghdad's Karkh area amid tight security following car bombs in recent days - AFP.

Four bombs ripped through Shiite neighbourhoods in Baghdad this evening, killing at least 40 people in the worst violence the capital has seen in months, Iraqi officials said.
An American civilian contractor also died in a separate attack. The violence underscored the fragile nature of the security gains in Iraq at a time when American forces are preparing to withdraw by the end of this year and the challenges facing the State Department personnel and American contractors who would continue on after the US military is gone.
The first three bombs went off in quick succession in a Southwestern Baghdad neighbourhood shortly after 7pm. One targeted a Shiite mosque, another exploded just outside a popular market, while the third went off inside the market where people were doing their evening shopping ahead of the Muslim weekend, Iraqi police officials said.
The officials said 34 people died and 82 others were injured in the three blasts. An official from Baghdad's Yarmouk hospital confirmed the casualty figures.
An Iraqi resident, Jabir Ali, said he was about 200 meters away when one of the bombs went off near a barbershop where his cousin works.

Pakistani paramedics give treatment to injured bomb blast victims at a hospital in Peshawar - AFP.

Two bomb blasts ripped through a crowded market in Peshawar city on Sunday, killing 34 people and injuring over 90 others in the latest in a series of terrorist attacks in Pakistan's restive northwest.
The explosions occurred at Khyber Super Market in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province that has repeatedly been targeted by militants over the past few years.
Thirty-four people were killed and 94 others injured in the attack, provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain told the media. Officials at the Lady Reading Hospital described the condition of 21 wounded as serious.
Doctors made an emergency appeal for people to donate blood. The first blast was a low intensity one and injured a few people, SSP (Operations) Ijaz Ahmed Khan said.
The second explosion, which was more powerful, occurred a few minutes later when a large number of people, including journalists and policemen, had gathered in the area. The explosions occurred within minutes of each other at about midnight.

01)  None of the 34 killed or 94 injured have anything to do with policy making or implementation of it or, even the socalled 'war-against-terror'!

02)  Then, why are these innocents are being targeted, repeatedly?

03)  Shame on anybody who propagates and / or perpetrates that this kind of mayhem of the miserables is sanctioned by any Religion, on this Earth!  Shame on Humanity!?

AP / The Hindu.

Friday’s twin attacks - as well as the fact that the bombers were able to infiltrate areas that were supposed to be secure - left people in Tikrit feeling under siege.
A suicide bomber attacked a mosque filled with Iraqi politicians and policemen while another blew himself up inside the hospital where the wounded were taken, killing a total of 21 people in Saddam Hussein’s hometown
Friday’s twin attacks - as well as the fact that the bombers were able to infiltrate areas that were supposed to be secure - left people in Tikrit feeling under siege.
It was the third major attack in Tikrit this year, reflecting the difficulties Iraqi security forces face in protecting their own people from Sunni insurgents still intent on undermining the country’s post—Saddam leaders, many of whom are Shiite. Such violence is all the more troubling because of the approaching year—end deadline for American forces to leave.
God! What is this madness?
