Casey Anthony is about to taste freedom. But the sweetness of being outside prison bars for the first time in nearly three years is likely to turn real bitter real fast. A world of potential hurt awaits the 25-year-old former murder defendant, acquitted of taking the life of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, and dumping the baby’s body in swampy woods near the home she shared with her parents, George and Cindy.

“It’s obvious she is the most despised person in America,” says prominent Orlando attorney Mark Nejame, who provided hours of cable-TV commentary on the case.  “And especially in Florida and specifically here in central Florida. People are incensed, and many people have lost all sense of reason. They are very passionate about her acquittal. Her personal well-being is at stake.”

Casey Anthony likely can’t comprehend how deeply the animosity runs. When Anthony she steps outside the Orange County Jail in Orlando, her new reality will be stark. She might take the flurry of activity as befitting a celebrity: bright lights, eager reporters with outstretched microphones pressing toward her and crowds of noisy people being held back by security officers.

During her trial and jail-term, she reveled the media attention, which now could pose grave threat for her life or limbs!

Casey Anthony released from jail.

(CNN) -- Casey Anthony walked free from a Florida jail early Sunday morning, three years and one day after she was first arrested for her role in the disappearance and, eventually, death of her 2-year-old daughter.

Anthony walked out of the front door of the Orange County Jail at 12:09 a.m. with her lawyer by her side and two Special Response Team officers with green vests.

Sheriff's deputies had two contingency plans laid out, but in the end opted to go with a public release.

"We have made every effort to not provide any special treatment for her," said Allen Moore, the spokesman for the Orange County Corrections Department in a statement. "She has been treated like every other inmate in her custody class."

Anthony had not received threats against her at the jail, but "this release had an unusual amount of security. So therefore, in that sense, it would not be a normal release," Moore said.

With $537.68 from her inmate account handed to her, Anthony offered a quick thanks to a Special Response Team sergeant.

She then walked out of the jail building doors and into a dark-colored sport utility vehicle.

Casey Anthony, acquitted of charges that she murdered her daughter Caylee, filed an appeal today of her conviction that she lied to law enforcement officers.

The appeal came days before Anthony, 25, is scheduled to leave jail. She was sentenced to four years on four counts of lying to investigators about Caylee's death. Since she has already served three years and is credited for good behavior, she will be released from the Orange County jail on Sunday.

The jury that acquitted her of murder agreed that she broke the law when she told police she worked at Universal Studios, that she left her daughter with a babysitter named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, when she claimed that Caylee was missing, and when she claimed that Caylee was still alive and she had spoken to her on the phone July 15, 2008. None of those statements were true.

Besides the jail time, Judge Belvin Perry fined Anthony $4,000.

Casey Anthony's father has joined a campaign to sign the Caylee's Law petition to create new laws that would have made it a crime for his daughter to not report Caylee's disappearance or death.

CHOUTEAU, Oklahoma -- An apparent case of mistaken identity almost cost one Oklahoma woman her life. The Chouteau woman says someone tried to kill her because she looks like Casey Anthony, who, as of July 14, was still jailed halfway across the country in Florida.

Shortly after Casey Anthony was acquitted on the charge that she murdered her two-year-old daughter, signs of hatred mounted against her. But, many may say, none have been as bizarre as what is reported to have happened in Oklahoma.

It was a typical night for Sammay Blackwell at a Chouteau convenience store where she works until one customer's visit began a road rage of drama Blackwell may never forget.

"I said, ‘Oh my God, help me,'" said Blackwell. "I just started praying because I knew something was bad."

Blackwell said a suspicious woman entered the store shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday, July 8 and left after buying gas. But, that was not the last time their paths would cross.

"I got in my vehicle and began to back out and looked and could tell she was staring directly at me," said Blackwell. "I could almost see the white in her eyes."

Blackwell said the woman followed her and rammed her truck causing it to flip two and half times. She says she never talked with her attacker, but believed she was targeted because people tell her she resembles Casey Anthony.

Orlando:  A judge sentenced Casey Anthony on Thursday to four years for lying to investigators but says she can go free in late July or early August because she has already served nearly three years in jail and has had good behaviour.

While acquitted of killing and abusing her two-year-old daughter Caylee, Anthony was convicted of four counts of lying to detectives trying to find her daughter in July 2008. She lied to them about working at the Universal Studios theme park, about leaving her daughter with a non-existent nanny named Zanny, about leaving the girl with friends and about receiving a phone call from her.

At the time of the girl's disappearance in June 2008, Anthony, a single mother, and Caylee were living with Anthony's parents, George and Cindy Anthony, in suburban Orlando. No one has come forward as the child's father.

Orlando, Florida:  Casey Anthony's eyes welled with tears and her lips trembled as the verdict was read once, twice and then a third time: "Not guilty" of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

Outside the courthouse, many in the crowd of 500 reacted with anger, chanting, "Justice for Caylee!" One man yelled, "Baby killer!"

In one of the most divisive verdicts since O.J. Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of murdering his ex-wife, Anthony was cleared Tuesday of murder, manslaughter and child-abuse charges after weeks of wall-to-wall TV coverage and armchair-lawyer punditry that one of her attorneys denounced as "media assassination."

Anthony, 25, was convicted only of four misdemeanor counts of lying to investigators who were looking into the child's June 2008 disappearance.

Anthony could get up to a year behind bars on each count when she is sentenced Thursday. But since she has been in jail for nearly three years already, she could walk free. Had she been convicted of murder, she could have gotten the death penalty.

After a trial of a month and a half, the Florida Ninth Judicial Circuit Court jury took less than 11 hours to reach a verdict in a case that had become a national cable TV sensation, with its CSI-style testimony about the smell of death inside a car trunk and its storyline about a seemingly self-centered, hard-partying young mother.

Prosecutors contended that Anthony -- a single mother living with her parents -- suffocated Caylee with duct tape because she wanted to be free to hit the nightclubs and spend time with her boyfriend.
