New Delhi: Janata Party chief, Dr. Subramanian Swamy was on Friday allowed by a Delhi court to conduct his private complaint in the 2G scam. The court also gave him time for filing an application which seeks to make then Finance Minister P Chidambaram an accused in the case as the matter is pending in the Supreme Court.

"Since my application seeking CBI inquiry into the role of Chidambaram in 2G scam is pending before the Supreme Court, it would be in the interest of justice to wait for the apex court's order and then come here (to this court) with the plea to make him (Chidambaram) an accused in the case," Swamy told Special CBI Judge OP Saini.

The Janata Party chief informed the judge that the apex court order on his petition is likely to be delivered on September 1 and than then he would file by September 15 the application seeking to make Chidambaram an accused in the case.

Suspected Congress workers entered the compound of Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy's house in south Delhi on Sunday and ransacked his garden to protest a controversial article he wrote recently, police said.

The incident took place around 5.30p.m., when the police received a call about protests at Swamy's house in East Nizamuddin.

Swamy, meanwhile, posted on microblogging site Twitter: "Rowdy Congress persons break open into my Nizamuddin compound (and) destruct my garden. Police have arrived. Please inform police (sic)."

In another tweet, Swamy said: "A plain clothes police officer was witness and has given evidence for FIR."

A police officer said that a few Congress workers shouted slogans and entered the garden. "They ransacked the garden and left in fifteen minutes."

Dr. Subramanian Swamy with his stature should never have stooped to the level of cheap communal passion instigation through his controversial article;

Similarly, Congress workers or whoever it was not right in indulging in physical violence and destruction of properties;

Both should be prosecuted for their crimes under relevant legal provisions!!!

The National Human Rights Commission has reserved decision on Wayanad MP M.I. Shanavas' petition seeking its intervention in the matter of a recent article by Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy where he prescribed a code of conduct for Muslims and suggested linking their voting rights to their acknowledging their Hindu ancestry.

The article appeared in the Daily News & Analysis on July 16, 2011, three days after the Mumbai serial bomb attacks.

Arguing that the article violated the human rights and other laws held sacred by the Constitution, the MP urged the NHRC to direct the Centre to start prosecution proceedings against Dr. Swamy.

The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has decided to press criminal charges against Janata Party president and columnist Subramanian Swamy for an incendiary article he wrote against Muslims in the Daily News and Analysis.

In the article, written against the backdrop of the July 13 Mumbai blasts, Dr. Swamy had asked for India to be declared a Hindu Rashtra and sought severe punitive measures against Muslims, including their disenfranchisement if they did not acknowledge their Hindu ancestry.

NCM chairperson Wajahat Habibullah told The Hindu that the full Bench of the Commission met on Tuesday and unanimously resolved to act against Dr. Swamy.

Maharashtra's minorities commission on Saturday called for the arrest of Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy for his 'extreme xenophobic right-wing thoughts' expressed in a newspaper article.

State Minorities Commission vice chairman Abraham Mathai wrote to Mumbai police chief Arup Patnaik, urging him to initiate criminal charges against Swamy under Section 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code.

"I am writing to you following uproar and a feeling of insecurity among the minority community caused by an article written by Dr. Subramanian Swamy entitled 'How to wipe out Islamic terror' published in the DNA of 16th July 2011," the letter said.

Swamy, a doctorate from Harvard, penned an op-ed that advocated denial of voting rights to non-Hindus with the goal of stemming terrorist attacks in India.

"The extreme xenophobic right-wing thoughts expressed in it are quite disturbing and the article is socially irresponsible and completely anti-Islamic. It is also alarming that Dr. Swamy is trying to incite Islamophobia using his freedom of expression to propagate hate through stereotyping," Mathai said.

Janata Party leader and Harvard summer school teacher Subramanian Swamy is being asked to leave by students at the university who have expressed anger over an article written by him following the recent Mumbai blasts, the Wall Street Journal has reported

A petition signed by over 200 students and faculty members, accuses Swamy of being a 'bigoted promoter of communalism in India' and wants his association with the University terminated immediately.

Writing for the DNA newspaper, Swamy had stated: "Muslims of India are being programmed by a slow reactive process to become radical and thus slide into suicide against Hindus.” He also suggests that only Muslims in India who 'acknowledge that their ancestors were Hindus' should be allowed to vote.

About Kashmir, Swamy wrote the 'Valley be settled with ex-servicemen to demonstrate a sort of civilian shock-and-awe campaign that would establish it as Hindu and Indian once and for all'.

The petition at Harvard, meanwhile, is drawing attention the fact that a follower of such 'views' cannot find place in the university.

“The highly insulting and stereotypical nature of his comments suggest that he cannot be trusted to regard Muslims — and no doubt other groups–with anything but a jaundiced eye,” it said.

The petition went on: "While free expression and the vigorous contest of ideas are essential in any academic community, so, too, are respect and tolerance for human difference. By advocating measures that would grossly violate freedom of religion and the unqualified right to vote for different religious groups, and by aggressively vilifying an entire religious community, Swamy breaches the most basic standards of respect and tolerance."

Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Thursday clarified that when he participated in a seminar in 2003 on Kashmir, organised by an organisation run by U.S.-based Kashmir activist Ghulam Nabi Fai, he was unaware that Dr. Fai was an “undercover agent of a foreign power.”

Dr. Fai has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for receiving millions of dollars in funds from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to influence politicians and opinion makers on Kashmir.

In a statement, Dr. Swamy said he delivered an address on Kashmir in the seminar held in the U.S. Senate Building in Washington in the summer of 2003. At that time, he was teaching economics at the Harvard University. He had checked with the Indian Embassy about the organisers and was told that ‘it was an anti-Indian gathering but not that it was ISI-inspired.”

Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Monday criticised Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh for proposing that Rahul Gandhi take over as Prime Minister and said that legally Mr. Gandhi and his sister were barred from the post.

In a statement, Dr. Swamy dubbed Mr. Singh as the “mouthpiece of the Janpath coterie” and said the coterie had “lost all hope on Manmohan Singh performing in the coming months as the 2G spectrum scam unravels and the list of accused lengthens with additions from the Congress.”

He accused Mr. Digvijay Singh of treating the Prime Minister as “some kind of regent in the Maino dynasty, waiting for Rahul to grow up.”

Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy today demanded the resignation of Union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran following allegations of pay-offs in 2-G spectrum allocation against him.

Referring to the Justice Shivraj Patil Committee report on spectrum allocation and pricing, Swamy told reporters here that beneficiaries in the Aircel issue were 'not directly benefiting," but were buying it (the company) from the direct beneficiaries.

Dayanidhi Maran is in the eye of a controversy after former Aircel Chief C Sivasankaran alleged that the former as Telecom Minister in 2006 "forced and arm-twisted" him to sell his stake in Aircel to Malaysian firm Maxis, whose owner is considered to be close to Maran and his brother Kalanidhi, who owns Sun TV Network. Maran has rejected the allegation.

Dr. Swamy, better become more worldwise;  in India as elsewhere those who occupy positions wouldn't vacate them voluntarily; they needed to be, literally, thrown out of their seats, either by the PM or CMs, under extreme public pressure or in most cases at the intervention of the Courts.
