For a quarter of a century, Colonel Gaddafi claimed that his adopted baby daughter Hana was killed in a U.S. airstrike.

The dictator even set up a shrine to the six-month-old infant in his Tripoli compound, with replica American missiles and furniture preserved behind glass screens.

Yesterday, however, it appeared that it was all a ruse to whip up hatred against the West and win sympathy from ordinary Libyans.

Documents and photographs found in the compound suggest that far from perishing in the 1986 attack, Hana is alive – and working as a doctor.

She studied medicine in Tripoli and four years ago took English classes at the British Council in the Libyan capital, for which she received an A grade.

An examination paper from a Libyan medical facility was written in Arabic and signed ‘Hana Muammar Gaddafi’.

After being reported dead for the second time this year, one of Muammar Gadhafi's sons and the head of an elite Libyan military unit appears to be alive and well.
A man who Libyan state television called Khamis Gadhafi, head of the feared 32nd Brigade or Khamis Brigade, appeared on the channel overnight in an apparent attempt to dismiss rebel claims that he had perished.

The video shows the man, who closely resembles the 28-year-old, touring a hospital in Tripoli where he visited several people state TV said were wounded in a NATO airstrike.

A rebel spokesperson had said Friday that Khamis was killed in a NATO airstrike on the front line city of Zlitan, but a NATO spokesperson in Naples, Italy, said the international organization could not confirm that report. At the time, another rebel spokesperson told The Associated Press that he, too, was unsure of Khamis' death.

If genuine, the video marks the second time this year that Khamis has been rumored dead only to reappear on state television. In March, it was widely reported by the opposition that he had died of severe burns after a defecting Libyan pilot crashed his plane into Libya's central military compound in Tripoli. Days later, Khamis reappeared on state television greeting jubilant regime supporters in Tripoli.

A senior Libyan government official has denied rebel reports that Muammar Qadhafi’s youngest son was killed in a NATO airstrike on the western town of Zlitan.

Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Kaim says Khamis Qadhafi is alive and spoke to Libyan government officials to confirm his well-being.

Rebels in the eastern opposition stronghold of Benghazi have said that Mr. Khamis was among 33 troops killed in a NATO strike early Friday on a government operations centre in Zlitan.

Police realised their folly yesterday as the 'body' of Mani, a retired school teacher, was being removed for 'postmortem' at least 12 hours after she was found lying inside the toilet.
Mani, who has suffered head injuries afer slipping and falling down, is now under observation in the Intensive care unit of a hospital here, hospital sources said.
The woman had no pulse and also the pupils did not react to light due to which she was "mistaken to be dead", police sources said.
Her body was also 'ice cold', they said adding a case of 'unnatural death' registered earlier had been closed as a 'mistake of fact'.
Lucky, that she had made that feeble cry before they conduct post mortem!
