An unspecified number of cartridges were seized during a search of three residences of arrested former CPI (M) minister Sushanta Ghosh in West Midnapore district and Kolkata on Saturday, police sources said.

The cartridges were found from the Benchapra residence in West Midnapore from near where seven skeletons were dug up from a pit on June two, while another residence at Chandrakona in district and one at D.L. Khan Road in Kolkata were also searched, the sources said.

Villagers gather around the wreckage of the Jaguar fighter aircraft that crashed in Dilahi Firozpur village of Uttar Pradesh's Mau district - PTI.

The black box of the Jaguar fighter aircraft that crashed in Dilahi Firozpur village, killing a pilot and a girl, was found on Saturday.

The black box or digital flight data recorder, which was essential for probing the cause of the crash, was located by the village youths in a pit filled with water this afternoon and was handed over to the IAF personnel, police said.

The debris of the aircraft was scattered in a radius of about a kilometre across agricultural fields which had a standing crop and were inundated with rain water.

Dr Y.S. Sachan was found dead under mysterious circumstances on June 22.

The agencies probing the murder of Deputy CMO Dr Y.S. Sachan have found a letter written by him to a Health Ministry official in which he claimed that police had forcibly got blank papers signed by him and two other accused.

In his letter to Joint Director (Family welfare) Dr Rajendra Kumar Singh on April 10, Dr Sachan stated that he along with two other accused in the case of murder of Lucknow Chief Medical Officer B.P. Singh were forced to sign on blank papers while they were being taken for remand proceedings.

Senior police officials did not want to comment saying the matter is under judicial probe.

A 68-year-old injured woman, lying unconscious inside her house for two days, was declared 'dead' by police after preliminary investigations.

Police realised their folly yesterday as the 'body' of Mani, a retired school teacher, was being removed for 'postmortem' at least 12 hours after she was found lying inside the toilet.

Mani, who has suffered head injuries afer slipping and falling down, is now under observation in the Intensive care unit of a hospital here, hospital sources said.

The woman had no pulse and also the pupils did not react to light due to which she was "mistaken to be dead", police sources said.

Her body was also 'ice cold', they said adding a case of 'unnatural death' registered earlier had been closed as a 'mistake of fact'.

Lucky, that she had made that feeble cry before they conduct post mortem!
