A passenger train carrying about 500 people had a miraculous escape in Assam on Friday when police seized a powerful bomb from one of the coaches.

A police spokesperson said the bomb was recovered from one of the coaches of the Kamakhya-Puri Express near the Pancharatna station in western Goalpara district early on Friday.

The train was bound for Puri in Orissa from Assam's main city of Guwahati.

"We had some information that a bomb was being carried in the train and hence we conducted a massive search operation after stopping the train at Pancharatna station and recovered a powerful improvised explosive device concealed in a sack," Goalpara district police chief Luis Aind told IANS.

Bomb experts defused the explosive.

Police picked up one person suspected to have been carrying the bomb.

"Investigations are on to find if the person we picked was actually carrying the bomb or not," the official said.

A major disaster was averted Sunday when three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were defused from the busy Vehbari area in Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district.

Police said the three explosives were detected during a joint patrol by the Army and police at Vehbari near Bagsa. The Army’s bomb defusal squad defused the IEDs.

SRINAGAR: A major tragedy was averted when Jammu and Kashmir police recovered five kgs of improvised explosive device ( IED) filled in a tin container planted outside the state-owned Heemal hotel on Boulevard road on the banks of Dal Lake.

According to the police, pedestrians noticed the unattended container and informed the police at about 10am on Thursday morning.

The bomb disposal squad from Srinagar police control room immediately swung into action and defused the explosive, the police spokesman said. 

ONLY MENTALLY DERANGED MEN COULD PLANT SUCH POWERFUL BOMBS AT PUBLIC PLACES!

• A train carrying around 1,000 passengers had a miraculous escape on Friday with security forces detecting a powerful bomb found inside the train at the Guwahati railway station in Assam, police said.
  The bomb, kept in a steel container and concealed inside a bag, was fitted with a time device inside coach S5 of the Kanchengunja Express. It was detected by security forces during a routine check just when the train from Bangalore arrived in Guwahati around 5.15 am.
  "Security forces were conducting a routine search when they found an unattended small but heavy bag and on suspicion they checked and detected the bomb neatly concealed," a senior police officer said.

Only mentally deranged people can indulge in such mindless mass murder plans!
