By Dan Rivers, CNN Correspondent / August 29, 2011 -- Updated 0452 GMT (1252 HKT).

Tripoli, Libya (CNN) - Moammar Gadhafi told his people he lived modestly during his nearly 42-year rule over Libya, often sleeping in a Bedouin tent.

Even if that was true for the leader, it certainly wasn't for his sons.

At a seaside compound in western Tripoli, the Gadhafi boys enjoyed a decadent lifestyle that his people could only dream about, while perpetrating unspeakable horrors on the staff that served their every whim.

CNN visited the seaside homes Sunday.

The first house we entered was apparently the "party" beach condo with an oversized door that led into sleek, modern, black-and-white rooms. It had been ransacked by the rebels, but still it was spectacular, with panoramic ocean views and plenty of evidence of the hedonism for which Hannibal Gadhafi -- one of Moammar Gadhafi's sons - is famous.

Amravati:  Farmers in Vidarbha district of Maharashtra are a desperate lot. Poverty has pushed them to do the unthinkable.

Kishan Rao Dapurkar, a farmer, is tilling his land using his sons instead of bullocks.

"Our financial condition is very bad; we don't have the money to hire bullocks," said Mr Dapurkar's son.

The Dapurkars live in the village of Sirkhed in Maharashtra's Amravati district, where the rains have failed two years in a row.

So while Mr Dapurkar is above the poverty line, because he owns 8 acres of land, his land has produced little and he is deep in debt, like most other marginal farmers in the area, unable to keep bullocks or hire a pair for Rs. 1000 a day.

"A pair of bullocks cost at least Rs. 20,000 and without these animals we cannot till our land. The wages of agricultural labour have also crossed Rs. 250 a day. Farming is unviable," said a farmer.

After the Dapurkars' situation was highlighted by a local daily, district officials agreed to provide power to operate the well - the father and sons dug with their own hands - but their demand for a pair of bullocks was turned down.

Sons lash out at Osama bin Laden's 'arbitrary killing'!

Brickbats, Bouquets & Backfeeds are welcome on prmadhura@yahoo.com

WASHINGTON — The adult sons of Osama bin Laden have lashed out at President Obama in their first public reaction to their father's death, accusing the United States of violating its basic legal principles by killing an unarmed man, shooting his family members and disposing of his body in the sea.

The statement, provided to The New York Times on Tuesday, said the family was asking why Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaida, "was not arrested and tried in a court of law so that truth is revealed to the people of the world."

Have they ever questioned their fathers ordering of killing of so many thousands of unarmed, innocent citizens, across the globe?
