WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s lawyers are arguing for a second day against his extradition to Sweden where he is accused of rape and molestation.

Mr. Assange’s new legal team says that while the 40-year-old activist’s behaviour with two women he met in Sweden may have been unpleasant, the sex was consensual.

Defence attorney Ben Emmerson on Wednesday attacked the way in which the extradition request was made, arguing that public prosecutors aren’t allowed to issue European arrest warrants.

Whistleblower Julian Assange invited Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to his lavish 40th birthday bash on Sunday - two days before he is due at the High Court to appeal against attempts to extradite him to Sweden to face rape allegations.

A huge marquee has been put up at Ellingham Hall, the 10-bed Norfolk farmhouse where he has been under house arrest for the past seven months.

It may be the ultimate indiscreet lunch.

WikiLeaks is offering eight people the chance to dine with founder Julian Assange as a fundraiser for its secret-spilling work.

Bidding on auction site eBay started on Monday at £350 (about Rs. 25,000) a head and had topped £500 (about Rs. 36,000) by Wednesday. Bidding closes on Monday.

Its worth watching who would those lucky Eight!

• Julian Assange, whose WikiLeaks website gained notoriety for releasing thousands of secret US cables, has said that his group has faced its 'greatest struggle' for press freedoms in the US.
  "There is no doubt the US government has tried to terrorize whistleblowers into not revealing important information to the public," Assange told reporters yesterday in a conference call from his house arrest in the United Kingdom, where he's awaiting trial on sex-crimes
  He made the conference call to mark the one-year anniversary of the detention of Bradley Manning, the army private accused of leaking thousands of classified US documents published by WikiLeaks over the past several months.

WikiLeaks' Assange awarded top Sydney peace prize

SYDNEY: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was Wednesday awarded the Sydney Peace Foundation's top honour for "exceptional courage in pursuit of human rights", joining the likes ofNelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.

Assange, an Australian former computer hacker who is fighting extradition from Britain to Sweden over alleged sex crimes, was praised and rewarded with the Sydney Peace Prize's Gold Medal.
