Special Correspondent, The Hindu / NEW DELHI, August 10, 2011.

The Congress on Tuesday demanded that all riot-related cases of 2002 in Gujarat be immediately transferred out of the State, in the wake of fresh reports of “collusion between the government of Gujarat and the lawyers for the riot accused.”
Party spokesperson Manish Tewari pointed out that action so far had been seen only in those cases that had been heard outside Gujarat, even as he accused the Narendra Modi government of victimising IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt for filing a Public Interest Litigation petition. He alleged that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had leaked information on the investigation of the riots to a State law officer.
‘Lawyers in cahoots with State'
“There is complete collusion between the government of Gujarat and the lawyers of the riot accused,” Mr. Tewari said, adding, “We demand that all riot-related cases be immediately transferred out of the State.”

Taking on the DMK, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa today said the Special Police Cells set up in each district would go into the charges of land grabbing during the previous regime and take prompt action to return the land to the rightful owners.
"The special cell will go into the complaints of land grabbing during the DMK regime in 2006 to 2011 and take action against those involved under various sections of law," she said in a statement.
Such a move would bring the wrong doers before the law and return the land to the rightful owners, Jayalalithaa said, adding that the AIADMK in its election manifesto had vowed to take strong action against powerful DMK men who were involved in land grabbing.

Will these Special Police Cells also look into the land-grabbing taken place, if any, during the non-DMK government in Tamilnadu?

Press Trust of India, Updated: July 01, 2011 16:51 IST / NDTV.

Kolkata:  Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily today launched an ambitious programme to bring down the huge number of cases pending before different courts in the country.

The programme named 'Mission Mode Programme for reduction of pendency of arrears in courts' was launched here on the occasion of the 150th year of Calcutta High Court, the oldest high court in the country.

"We have initiated this ambitious programme with a goal of disposing of 40 per cent of cases from the annals of subordinate courts," Moily said at the Sesquicentennial Building of the high court after inaugurating the programme.

If the Government stops being the largest litigant of the Nation (the old British legacy) and also fill up the rampant judicial vacancies at all levels right from the Subordinate Courts to the Suprement Court, the number of cases will automatically come down!

ANYBODY ACCUSED of crime is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. But Kashmiri youth Imran Ahmad Kirmani didn’t enjoy that luxury. For nearly five years, the aeronautical engineer was left to cool his heels inside the notorious Tihar jail on the cooked-up charges of being a terrorist who was planning a 9/11-style attack in the country.

On 15 November 2006, national media outlets screamed that the Delhi Police had foiled a major terror plot by nabbing a terrorist. The police alleged that Imran was a Lashkar-e-Toiba operative and 4 lakh was found on him, which they claimed was to be used to carry out terror attacks.

“Those were the dark days of my life,” recalls Imran, 29, who was acquitted by the Tis Hazari Court on 12 May of all the charges slapped by the police. “I am a free man, but who will return my five years and a promising career? No one answered that in the courtroom.”

Hailing from Nelipora hamlet of Handwara, almost 70 km from Srinagar, Imran’s is a story of Kashmiri youth who had a modest background and doting.parents. He joined the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Aeronautical Engineering in Jaipur for which his father Ghulam Rasool Kirmani, a retired government teacher, spent most of his life savings. Imran also worked part time at a Gurgaon-based aviation academy to supplement his fees.

JOURNALISTS MURDERS: India ranked 7th in list of unsolved cases of murder of journalists!

Have you read, “Mayhem of the Miserables!” available @ http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

India has earned the dubious distinction of being listed in the 2011 'Impunity Index' prepared by an international media watchdog on the basis of unsolved murders of scribes - an issue that has again come to the fore after the killing of a senior reporter in Mumbai.
Only 13 countries - with five or more unsolved cases of murder of journalists from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2010 - have been included on the index.
Reason is obvious;  most such murders are perpetrated by the hired goons of politicos, businessmen, hoarders, landgrabbers, smugglers and all, connived with the bureaucracy and the police;  Until and unless the nexus among them is not broken, the cases will not be solved.
