Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday raised a question whether a resolution by the State Assembly seeking mercy for Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru on the lines of Tamil Nadu House would also generate a “muted” reaction.

“If J&K assembly had passed a resolution similar to the Tamil Nadu one for Afzal Guru would the reaction have been as muted? I think not,” Mr. Abdullah posted on social networking site Twitter.

His comments came a day after the Tamil Nadu assembly passed a unanimous resolution urging President Pratibha Patil to reconsider the mercy plea of three convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case who are facing death sentence.

• After weeks of speculation, micro-blogging site Twitter has acquired Tweetdeck, a London-based start up that helps users view and organise the 140-character Tweets.
  The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. However, certain reports said the transaction is valued at USD 40-50 million.
  In a blog post, Tweetdeck's Iain Dodsworth, the British designer and programmer who founded the web site, said Tweetdeck has been focussed on providing "high-quality tools and services for the Twitter-centric power-user." "It is precisely for this reason that Twitter has acquired TweetDeck.
