PHOENIX (AP) - Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is now aware of who was killed during the January shooting rampage in Tucson that left her seriously wounded, her spokesman said.

C.J. Karamargin confirmed Friday that the Democratic politician was told in late July the names of the dead, including her aide Gabe Zimmerman; U.S. District Judge John Roll, a close friend; and 9-year-old Christina-Taylor Green, the Arizona Republic reported.

Giffords has been recovering from a gunshot wound to the brain from the Jan. 8 shooting that killed six people and wounded her and 12 others. The man charged in the rampage, Jared Lee Loughner, was sent to a federal prison facility in Springfield, Mo., after a federal judge concluded he was mentally incompetent to stand trial on 49 charges.

Her loved ones had been keeping the extent of the tragedy from her until she was strong enough to handle it. Husband Mark Kelly said in June that Giffords knew how many people were killed or wounded but wasn't aware that Zimmerman and Roll were among them.

"She was deeply saddened by it," said Karamargin, who is leaving Giffords' staff for a job with Pima Community College.

August 10, 2011 / ANI, London / DC.

A man in the US is said to have accidentally shot his own penis while he was putting his fiancee’s pink gun in the waistband of his pants.

Joshua Seto, 27, from Phoenix, was walking toward a grocery store with his fiancee Cara Christopher when the incident took place revealed Chandler police.

The gun fired, striking Seto’s penis and continued through his left thigh.

Christopher, 26, can be heard in tapes released by MyFoxPhoenix speaking to a dispatcher during a 911 call.

“He’s still conscious, there is just a lot of blood,” the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.

The operator told Christopher to apply direct pressure to the wound with a dry towel or T-shirt and avoid looking at it.

“I did look at it. It’s pretty bad,” she said.

July 26, 2011 / PTI, Jalna/Mumbai / DC.

Fourteen people, including 13 devotees of Lord Vitthal, were killed in two road mishaps involving a truck while two persons were killed in subsequent police firing on violent demonstrators protesting the accidents near Jalna in Maharashtra's Marathwada region on Monday.

The first accident occurred on Ambad-Beed Road at Parner, when the truck driver lost control and dashed into a group of pilgrims, killing seven of them instantly, police said.

Six others succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at local hospitals, police said, adding 20 were injured in the mishap.

An elderly person, riding pillion on a motorcycle, was killed at Matpipalgaon, some 20km from the first accident spot, when the same truck hit a two-wheeler when its occupants tried to stop the fleeing driver, police said.

The truck driver was subsequently arrested.

Following the accident, a mob set some police vehicles on fire, prompting the men in uniform to lob tear-gas shells and open fire to control the violent crowd.

AP / The Hindu / AUBURN, WASHINGTON, July 24, 2011.

Seven people were wounded, at least two critically, when a gunman opened fire at a casino near Seattle, authorities said.

Auburn Police Commander Jamie Sidell said the shooting happened at a nightclub inside the Muckleshoot Casino at about 1.30 a.m. PDT (2 p.m. IST) on Sunday.

An armed, 42-year-old man entered the club looking for a woman who was possibly his wife or girlfriend, Mr. Sidell said. He discovered her with another man and shot them both.

The man then fired multiple rounds, hitting five more people, Mr. Sidell said.

He started to flee the club, but a security officer tackled him. The man was detained and has been arrested, Mr. Sidell said.

Harborview Medical Centre spokeswoman Susan Gregg said four of the victims — three women and a man — were brought to her Seattle facility, about 50 km north of Auburn. She said two were in critical condition and two were serious.

The other three shooting victims were transported to Valley Medical Centre in Renton, which declined to release information on their conditions on Sunday.

A man helps a wounded woman evacuating a building after an explosion near government buildings in Norway's capital Oslo - AFP.

Militants staged twin bomb and shooting attacks against Norway's government on Friday, with as a deadly explosion ripping through ministry buildings and a gunman opening fire at a meeting of the ruling party - killing at least 17 people.

But an eyewitness, Andre Scheie, told Norwegian broadcaster NRK that he saw 20 to 25 bodies at the youth camp where a gunman dressed in a police uniform opened fire.

Scheie said he saw bodies on the shore of the Utoya Island where the youth wing of the Labor Party was holding a summer camp for hundreds of youths. He added: "There are very many dead by the shore ... there are about 20-25 dead." He also said he saw dead people in the water.

Meanwhile, police arrested a Norwegian man and the arrested has links to right-wing extremism, independent Norwegian television TV2 reported on Saturday, without disclosing its sources.

Police were searching a flat in west Oslo where the man lived, TV2 said.

By BRIAN ROSS (@brianross) , MARK SCHONE, JOSH HASKELL and ROBIN RESPAUT July 22, 2011.

At least 80 people were killed in a shooting at a youth camp on the Norwegian island of Utoya the second of two attacks blamed on a Norwegian suspect authorities have not identified, police said.

Police confirmed that they had arrested a Norwegian man for the attack on a summer youth camp, and that they believed the same man was responsible for the bombing in central Oslo several hours earlier that claimed at least seven lives.

The 80 dead at the camp was a dramatic increase over an earlier police report that at least 10 had died at the youth camp. Police director Oystein Maeland told reporters many more victims were discovered between the two reports, according to The Associated Press.

With the arrest of a lone Norwegian in the twin bomb and shooting attacks today, officials have all but ruled out any connection to international terrorism.

"We have one person in custody and he will be charged in connection with what has happened," said Justice Minister Knut Storberget during a Friday evening press conference. "We know that he is Norwegian. That is what we know. I don't think it's right from my position to go into details about him."
