After launching a blistering attack on Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in the past few weeks for running a corruption ridden government, JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda stunned everyone on Friday by showering praise on his bete noire.
The former prime minister has been trumpeting the cause of his home district, Hassan which he represents in the Lok Sabha, and had been demanding more funds to complete unfinished projects.
In fact the tirade he had launched against the government, had the entire top bureaucracy on tenterhooks – in the past three days, they were busy preparing for the much awaited meeting between the representatives of Hassan led by the former PM and the Chief Minister.
The tension fizzled out just five minutes after Gowda made his opening remarks. Instead of targeting the government’s ‘biased’ approach to developmental work, the JD(S) president was all praise for the CM.
“You (Mr Yeddyurappa) will complete your term and you say you are going to rule for five more years. It is God’s will and we will back you in all your good deeds. When you do good work, I will be the first one to go to the media and praise you,’’ he said.

Bangalore, Jun 27: Lending teeth to the multi-pronged attack hoisted by the JD(S) to unseat the State Chief Minister (CM), B S Yeddyurappa, former Prime Minister, H D Deve Gowda, began his dharna in front of the CM’s residence on Monday June 27 morning, as announced earlier. Gowda has been accusing the CM of deliberately neglecting the progress and welfare of Hassan district.
