New Delhi: India will soon send a team to the United States to gather more information about the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba operative David Headley and his accomplice Tahawwur Hussain Rana, who are accused of giving material support to 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, and their confessional statements.

However, the Indian team will not seek access to Headley and Rana.

World terror suspect David Headley who is being investigated for his links with the LeT and the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai - DC
World terror suspect David Headley who is being investigated for his links with the LeT and the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai - DC.

LeT operative David Headley wants his five-year-old son to one day become a soldier in Pakistani army's elite Special Service Group (SSG), which is known for its anti-India operations including the Kargil incursion and wars of 1965 and 1971.
Headley, who was the star government witness in the Chicago trial of his childhood friend Tahawwur Rana last month, had been grooming his son keeping this in mind.
So much so that when his son's football coach asked him to kick the ball one day by saying shoot, he instead of kicking the ball, laid down on the ground and posed like he was shooting a gun indicating the level of his indoctrination.
Headley - who told the court that he joined Pakistan-based LeT, which is responsible for several terror strikes in India, including the Mumbai attacks, because he wanted to fight against Indian forces in Kashmir - shared this incident between his son and football coach with LeT leader Pasha during a telephonic conversation, according to transcripts presented before the Chicago court.
"The incident that you are relating to Pasha is something that you thought he would find to be funny, right?" defence attorney Patrick Blegan asked.

Unlike, Osama bin Laden, who didn't wanted his Children to join Al Qaeda, this man wants his Son to become a Pak Commando!

David Headley, who has pleaded guilty to his involvement in Mumbai attacks, went for training with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) while he was still working as an informant with the U.S. government’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Testifying before a Chicago court during the recently-concluded trial of co-accused Tahawwur Rana, Headley conceded that he was still working with DEA when he first attended an LeT meeting in 1999.
“Yes,” Headley told the court, when the Defence Attorney for Rana asked: “1999 (the year when Headley visited Pakistan for Lashkar meeting). But you were still working with the DEA when you went into the first Lashkar meeting, where you made a donation, correct?”
“Did you report to the DEA that you had gone to Lashkar meetings?” Headley was asked, to which he replied in negative.
“When you say working for the DEA, I was signed because I would sign up for periods of time. So I was working for them but not on any case at that time. I was signed up with them at that time,” Headley clarified soon thereafter.

The US court may have acquitted him in the 26/11 case but has nailed ISI’s use of terror

CONSIDERING THAT Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistaniorigin Canadian national could face up to 30 years in prison after a Chicago court found him guilty of having links with the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and plotting a terror attack against a Danish newspaper, the carping noises being heard in India over his acquittal on the charge of facilitating the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai sound somewhat incongruous. Rana being found guilty of involvement in 26/11 would not have made it any easier to punish the real masterminds of that outrage, all of whom are comfortably ensconced in Pakistan, some inside jail from where they are conducting their murderous business and others strutting about freely, making hate speeches against India and praying for the soul of Osama bin Laden in public meetings. Nor for that matter is Rana’s acquittal going to be a setback in bringing to justice those who planned and directed that barbaric attack. To put it quite simply, the Rana trial is not really material to the larger 26/11 case.

Rana was at best a bit player in 26/11, who ostensibly was motivated by two factors: one, he believed that by helping the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) spy on India he would be able to make amends for his desertion from the Pakistan Army; and second, he probably thought that aiding the LeT in the massacre of kafirs (infidels) would earn him some sawab (rewards in the afterlife). His being indicted for involvement in the 26/11 attacks was more of an afterthought, because originally he was arrested for being part of a terrorist conspiracy to attack the Danish newspaper that had published caricatures of Prophet Muhammad. It was only the confessional statement of David Headley that implicated Rana in the 26/11 conspiracy. But the corroborative evidence that was required to back Headley’s testimony was just not adequate for a jury to pronounce the guilty verdict on Rana.

The reaction in India to Rana’s acquittal in the 26/11 case has, however, been quite over the top. Not only does it smack of an utter lack of understanding of law and procedure, it is even devoid of basic common sense. It is one thing for Indian officials to express ‘disappointment’ over Rana’s acquittal, and quite another for them to contemplate filing a chargesheet against both Rana and Headley. Leave aside the fact that it will be practically impossible to secure the extradition of these two characters, there is also the principle of ‘double jeopardy’ that will come into play if these two men are to be tried in India on practically the same charges for which they were tried in the US. But let us, for a moment, assume that India does get hold of these two guys and the issue of ‘double jeopardy’ is not applicable. What, pray, is the new evidence that Indian law enforcement agencies have collected against them (which presumably the American prosecutors did not have) that will stand up in a court of law to convict these two?

Yes, Yes, Mr. Malik,

Same goes with you too, though Pak hasn't been officially convicted by any court, as yet, the credibility enjoyed by your Administration is worse than that of Headley and Rana, given the fact that every terrorist attacked the interests of Pakistan has been trained & armed including, Ilyas Kashmiri, by you only .

The Lashkar operative lied to loved ones, promising a new life!

“The best way for a man to die is by the sword,” wrote the Pakistani-American Lashkar-e-Taiba operative David Headley in a 2009 e-mail, defending the beheading of a Polish engineer by the Taliban.
Evidence presented before the court of district judge Harry Linenweber on Tuesday provided new insights into the jihadist who carried out the surveillance operation that guided a Lashkar assault team to Mumbai in November 2008 and led to the deaths of 164 men, women and children.
Headley's life, the evidence suggested, was driven at least as much by fear as fanaticism: fear which led him to routinely deceive his loved ones, betray the faith he claimed to be fighting for — and, prosecutors say, lie in order to secure a reduced sentence.
Patrick Blegen, co-counsel for Tahawwur Rana, the Pakistani-Canadian businessman, argued that Headley had fabricated testimony implicating his client in terrorist plots.
In a November 9, 2009, conversation, recorded by prison authorities, Headley told his wife that he had made a “big sacrifice” to secure her freedom and that of his brother, a Pakistani bureaucrat. Mr. Blegen argued that his client, whose immigration business Headley used as a cover, was that “sacrifice.”
With that plea-bargain he entered with US Authorities, will he ever be punished, ?

Chicago Rana Trial: Headley wanted to make a film on 26/11!

India Blooms News Service.

Chicago, Jun 1 (IBNS): David Coleman Headley, a co-conspirator in the 2008 terror strike on Mumbai, wanted to write a book and make a movie on the attack to “make a lot of money”, taped phone conversations of the Pakistani-American revealed as part of an ongoing trial.

Testifying in a Chicago court in the trial of his Pakistan-born friend Tahawwur Hussain Rana, Headley had less than a week ago said that he was no longer proud of the attack that 166 people dead and over 300 injured.

But as lawyers of Rana, the co-accused in the attack and facing the trial, made efforts to prove their client’s innocence and establish that Headley was falsely implicating him, a taped conversation between Headley and his wife was presented in the court.

And sell it to Hollywood distributors?

Chicago Rana Trail: Pakistan ISI had no role in Mumbai plot: Headley!

Have you read my Novella, “Mayhem of the Miserables!” available @ http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

(AFP)

31 May 2011, 8:29 PM
The leadership of Pakistan’s ISI agency was not involved in planning the deadly 2008 Mumbai attacks, self-confessed plotter David Coleman Headley testified Tuesday.
Headley, who has pleaded guilty to 12 terror charges arising out of the attacks on India’s financial capital, said during the Chicago trial of his childhood friend, Tahawwur Hussain Rana, that no more than a handful of ISI agents were involved in the plot.
“The colonel might have known and someone in the group might have known,” Headley testified.
A Colonel is a fairly senior official within the hierarchy and he would never let the lower level minions, especially, outsiders like Headley to know the involvement of his higher-ups.  Hence, Headley's testimony to be taken with a pinch of salt.

WASHINGTON: As Pakistani-American David Coleman Headley returns to the stand Tuesday to testify in a high-stakes terrorism trial in connection with the 2008 Mumbai attacks , questions are being raised about his credibility.

The question whether Headley aka Daood Gilani , Washington-born son of a Pakistani father and an American mother is telling the truth will hover over the Chicago trial of his one-time friend Pakistani Canadian Tahawwur Rana .

In an investigative report published in association with PBS Frontline Tuesday, ProPublica, an investigative news site, said by his own admission Headley has credibility problems.

Yes, in addition to his own testimony one has to go by the corroborative evidence on what he claims to have happened!

Lawyers for Pakistani-American businessman Tahawwur Rana claim he was deceived by his childhood friend

Public-authority defences not applicable to acts commissioned by foreign governments: judge
E-mail between two makes clear Rana knew at least something of Headley's agenda: prosecutors

CHICAGO: Lawyers for Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-American businessman charged with having facilitated the November 26, 2008 attacks on Mumbai, say he had no knowledge his immigration business was being used as a cover for the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Rana's lawyers will argue that he was duped by his childhood friend, the Pakistani-American jihadist-turned-star prosecution witness David Headley, when court proceedings reopen on Tuesday after an extended weekend break.

Deceitful conduct.

Charles Swift, Rana's lawyer, earlier underlined the training Headley received from Pakistan's intelligence services, his less-than-edifying past as a narcotics trafficker and his deceitful conduct with his two wives.

With this defense, Rana's Lawyers can undermine the credibility of Headley, as a witness, but they will not be able to extricate Rana from the charge of having been an accessory to the crime in 26/11 Mumbai Terrorist Attack.

Chicago Rana Trail: FBI ignored warnings on Headley's jihadist career!

Kindly read my Novella, “Mayhem of the Miserables!” available @ http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

PRAVEEN SWAMI / The Hindu.

Officials dismissed information from his wives that he was working with the Lashkar-e-Taiba
Federal Bureau of Investigation detectives disregarded multiple warnings that the Pakistani-American jihadist David Headley was working with the Lashkar-e-Taiba - two of which came from his own wives.
The FBI, intelligence sources have told The Hindu, instead chose to believe Headley's claims that he had only made contact with the jihadist group to further his work as a counter-narcotics informant.
FBI officials, the sources said, were long aware of Headley's links with jihadists in Pakistan's north-west, and even interviewed him for information in the weeks after 9/11.
There is more to the Headley's plea bargain than meets the eye and it is very unlikely that FBI could have taken it lightly on reports like that, especially when they are made by his own first wife, Mr. Shazia Geelani (M1, as per his diary) and his Second wife, Ms. Outhalla  (M2, as per his diary).
Another irony of it all is an Un-Muslim carrying forward his 'Jihadist Agenda', as he violated the cardinal principle of islamic marriage; as per Islamic Tenets, for marrying for the Second time the first wife should give express, while in Headley's case one doesn't know of the existence of the other.
