MT Pavit which drifted aground following engine failure, at the Juhu beach in Mumbai - PTI.

The Directorate of Shipping today said a salvage operation to re-float the oil tanker M T Pavit will be undertaken soon as the owners have identified professional salvors.

A salvage company has been identified and the owners and hull and machinery underwriters are likely to enter into a formal contract with it soon, a DGS statement said.

"The salvage operation is, therefore, likely to commence soon, subject to the favorable tidal window and sea and weather conditions," it said, without giving an exact time-line for the same.
