New Delhi: In an embarrassing goof-up External Affairs Minister SM Krishna gave a confused reply in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday when an MP asked him about the release of Pakistani prisoner Dr Mohammed Khaleel Chisti who is currently in Ajmer jail.

Krishna referred to Dr Chisti as being held in a Pakistani jail and went on to declare Pakistan has been asked to show leniency in his case. He made the statement while replying to a question by JD-U MP Shivanand Tiwari, who had asked about Dr Chisti and what the Government was doing to release him.

Krishna replied during the Question Hour claiming that Dr Chisti was in a Pakistani jail and the Pakistani government should consider this case on "humanitarian grounds".

With the entire house puzzled, he added that Dr Chisti was confined to a wheel chair and was more than 80 years old, and he was sure that the Government of Pakistan would take a lenient view about the case.

CPI (M) MP Brinda Karat interrupted the minister and pointed out Tiwari was referring to the case of Dr Chisti in an Indian jail.

“I think you have misunderstood the question entirely sir,” said Karat.

Finally, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had to intervene, saying he had asked Home Minister P Chidambaram to contact the Rajasthan government on the Dr Chisti issue.

01)  Last time when PTI reported of misplacing papers during the Question Hour and failed to answer properly, he threated it with Defamation Case;

02) Last Month, when Hina Rabbani Kar has visited he had to rely on written speech, again fumbling for right papers;

03)  Inability to grasp an issue or to register a question is a sure sign of Senility!

04)  UPA leadership should, seriously, consider reliveing him of this very important portifolio, at the earliest!!

05) On account of his seniority, if they wish to retain his services, he can be appointed as a Governor!!!
