Federal authorities on Thursday released images that showed bundles of cash and guns among nearly three dozen weapons seized from Whitey Bulger's Santa Monica apartment after he was arrested last month with his longtime companion.
Bulger and Catherine Greig lived for years, hiding in plain sight, in a Santa Monica apartment within sight of the tourist saturated Promenade and the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Bulger had fled from Boston, where he was wanted in connection with 19 homicides and other charges.
Authorities are trying to figure out how Bulger -- one of the FBI's 10 most wanted fugitives -- was able to live fairly openly in Santa Monica and whether he received financial help during his 16 years there.
