Even as a majority of MPs, MLAs and ministers from Telangana submitted their resignations, the Centre said it is in no hurry to take a decision on separation of the region from Andhra Pradesh. Describing the situation in the state as normal, home minister P Chidambaram on Monday said the Congress leadership is in touch with the agitated legislators and is persuading them to withdraw the resignations.

"There is no need to be alarmed. The resignations did not come as a surprise to us. The Congress party is in touch with the legislators and we would be able to persuade them to be patient,” Chidambaram told reporters.

Stating that an all party meet on the issue could be convened only after all parties submit their views, Chidambaram made it clear that the Government has so far not taken any decision on Telangana.

Procrastination is the trusted policy of Congress!
