Levi Aron told police that he took 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky to a wedding in upstate New York after the boy became lost Monday while walking to meet his mother.
Leiby’s disappearance set off a frantic two-day search that ended Wednesday with the grim discovery of his dismembered bodyinside a refrigerator in Aron’s apartment and in a Dumpster.
At a press conference Thursday, New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said detectives confirmed that Aron attended a wedding in Monsey, N.Y., on Monday. Kelly said that wedding guests and workers at the catering hall did not see the boy.
Leiby had encountered Aron on a street corner in Brooklyn’s Borough Park section around 5:30 p.m. Monday after becoming lost while walking to meet his mother seven blocks from his Brooklyn summer camp. Although Aron told police that Leiby went with him willingly and remained with him voluntarily, Kelly said that ligature marks on the boy’s wrist may indicate the boy was held against his will.
Aron told detectives that he first met Leiby when the boy was asking for help finding a religious book store. When they couldn’t find the store, Aron told detectives the boy agreed to accompany him to the wedding upstate.Full Story at,
