BAGHDAD — An explosion ripped through a mosque on Friday in a city north of Baghdad, killing at least 17 people, including the mosque’s imam, and wounding 47, an Iraqi security official said.
The attack occurred in Tikrit, the hometown of Saddam Hussein, around 1 p.m. while worshipers were taking part in Friday Prayers.
The details of the attack were not immediately clear. The security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter, said an explosive device was detonated inside the mosque, causing the dome to collapse onto the worshipers inside and another bomb exploded near the mosque entrance less than a minute later.
It seems Al Qaida network is everywhere, spanning the hatred!
