Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar termed Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev’s campaign against corruption as a “circus in Jantar Mantar and Ramlila Ground”, and was critical of the way the UPA government handled the recent events.
“I would have ignored Baba Ramdev, I would have also ignored Anna Hazare. I would have told them you run your show, your circus in Jantar Mantar and Ramlila Ground.
“But if you want to talk to the Parliament of India, please place your applications before the relevant standing committee,” Mr. Aiyar told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.
Mr. Aiyar, out of Parliament and out of Cabinet, definitely has an axe or a few to grind.
When he and his ilk, both from the ruling coalition and opposition, have been insensitive and inert to the gangrene of India called, the al-round corruption, at all levels and planes as well as towards the black money stashed away both abroad and in India, the people have raised their voices.
It was the knee-jerk reaction of the UPA Government to constitute that Joint-Drafting Committee to draft an acceptable draft bill to be introduced in the Parliament.
He needs to understand that like a Gram Panchayat which cannot wish away the Gram Sabha, Union of India too cannot wish away the People of India nor can it dissolve it, as ours is a still Democratic Republic, though the elected representative may be under dillusions, even if they were denied re-election.
In the name of Coalition Dharma, his Party's Government has lost sense of direction, which we gave them.
