Voting out the incumbent government that is fraught with corruption and voting in the only alternative into power has been the electoral politics of the State of Tamilnadu.  This time, however, DMK appears to have overdone it.  This election proved that the strangle hold on Madurai area by the Elder Son of Mr,

Karunanidhi, Mr. Alagiri proved to be a myth.  Further the open negotiations of DMK leadership with the UPA to exempt the Wife and Daughter from being prosecuted in 2G Spectrum Scam, while making its Dalit face, Mr. A. Raja a scapegoat, has alienated Dalit vote bank.  In addition the figure Rs. 1,76,000/- loss to the exchequer while the corrupt politicians making thousands of crores for themselves has also shocked the nation as well as the voter of Tamilnadu.

With this rout, all hopes of Mr. Karunanidhi’s agenda to negotiate for the total exemption from prosecution of his family members, in 2G Spectrum Scam, his ambition of retiring in mid-term to anoint his pet Son, Mr. M. Stalin as the Chief Minister and demanding for some more powerful, money making Cabinet Posts, at the centre, for his party nominees have all dashed.

With Ms. J. Jayalalitha’s avowed agenda of conducting independent enquiries into all corruption allegations against the outgoing DMK government, the party and its leadership is in real trouble.
