Congress: Losing Elections, Gracefully – Lessons Not Learned, Yet!

Have you read, “Mayhem of the Miserables!” available @ http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

The recently concluded elections, on the whole was seen as a thumps-up to the UPA Government at the Centre and its leader the Congress;  and accordingly, even the bourses have responded positively, this was despite the sound routing of its major ally from south, DMK and its own party in Tamilnadu.

The thorough drubbing of the DMK and its partner, Congress has been mostly due to the complicity of UPA partners in 2G Spectrum Scam, amounting to around Rs. 1,76,000/- Crores of loss to the public exchequer and earning thousands of Crores of Rupees by the powers that be.  After Mr. Karunanidhi sacrificing Mr. A. Raja to try to save his Daughter, Ms. Kanimozhi, he appears to have lost the Dalit Vote, which was another factor of his trouncing.  Congress too was not spared by the electorate of Tamilnadu, due to its continued partnership with the much tainted ally and a series of other scams involving its Sr. leaders in Adarsh Housing Society Scam, CWG-Organizing Committee Scam, etc.

In Puducherry too, DMK-Congress combine was defeated by All-India NR Congress-AIADMK combine.
Barring in Assam, where it had a resounding victory thanks to Tarun Gogoi’s clean image his persistent efforts bring piece in that secessionist strife-stricken, North-Eastern State, while it just scrape through in Kerala and its success in West Bengal was nothing but a piggy ride on the back of wave created by Ms. Mamata Benerjee’s Trinamul Congress, against the inefficient, anti-farmer and anti-development Left Front, lead by CPM misrule of the last 34 years.

Is Andhra Pradesh too the State Congress Leadership has been too week, ever since the sudden demise of Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and with Mr. Y.S. Jaganmohana Reddy and Mrs. Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, the son & wife of the late C.M. of A.P., respectively, claiming his legacy and winning Kadapa Parliamentary Constituency Election and Pulivendula Legislative Constituency Elections, with record breaking majority, the Congress is in real trouble.  This apart the long burning unmet demand for a separate state by the ten districts of Telengana Region of A.P., the movement leaders resolve to press for more agitations, the local government has a lot of music to face, in near future as well as in the 2014 general election, which also comes along with the Parliament ones.

And then, to boot its violent protest against the Mayawati’s forceful land acquisitions for Jaypee group's Yamuna Express Highway project and also the brutal oppression of farmers agitatition demanding fair market-price for their agricultural lands, while keeping quite when the farmers and fisher folk have been agitating against the construction of Nuclear Power Projects at Jaitapur in Maharastra and Ranasthalam in Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh or people’s agitation against various mega power projects, port projects and SEZs, all of which have, forcefully, procured land from the farmers, five to ten times more land that the actual project requirement.

With this kind of double politics and ‘N’ number of scams involving the Congress Chief Ministers and / or Ministers, MLA and M.P.s, the Congress has been alienating the general public even in those States where it enjoyed voter loyalty.

With the above, if at all it returns to power in 2014 elections, it would be solely because of its allies and the absence of any other credible alternative political party or coalition of parties.
