With the Supreme Court revoking the disqualification of the 11 BJP MLAs and 5 Independent MLA of the Karnataka State Assembly, who introduced ‘no-confidence motion’ against Mr. Yediyurappa government, it now become imminent that Mr. B.S. Yediyurappa – who de-notified government lands to allot the same to his Sons, on a platter, not to speak of several other crimes – will have to face the Assembly, once again to win the confidence of the house, if he is to continue in his office, which is difficult given the numbers. The BJP’s top-brass, while, vociferously, condemning the corruption scandals involving the Congress C.M.s, MP, etc. has conveniently exonerated its own most corrupt Chief Minister and other Corrupt Ministers in Karnataka like Reddy Brothers, who have been condemned for mining illegally and exporting iron ore, illegitimately.
With their getting shocked, selectively, has already ensured that they do not have influence in any other state other than Gurajarat & Karnataka, losing its status as the leader of the N.D.A., the hoped alternative to the Congress lead, U.P.A.. With almost nil openings in the recently concluded state general elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamilnadu and West Bengal, BJP, on the whole proved to be a no competition at the centre.
Yes, Mr. Narendra Modi has developed Gujarat a lot and enjoys the voter confidence there, but just outside his state his image of being a hawkish anti-Muslim, Hindu Radical leader hasn’t fetched any votes to his party, in the past or in the recent past.
With Mr. B.S. Yediyurappa set to go as the C.M. of Karnataka, with another BJP weakling as a stop-gap arrangement, Congress and J.D. (S) trying to erode the BJP vote bank, there is grave reason for them to worry.
The bragging of Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, the spokesperson of BJP, post election results, about their gaining, substantially, while Congress despite winning here and there has lost its credibility heavily, smacks of any lessons learned and not withstanding his inaudible claims of a great hope of them to win 2014 general elections, hand-down due to the Congress’s losing public confidence, its prospects to give any fight to the U.P.A.-III seems to be very bleak.
Even their current agitation against Mayawati’s forceful land acquisitions for Jaypee group's Yamuna Express Highway project and also the brutal oppression of farmers agitation demanding fair market-price for their agricultural lands would not going to help them there in any great deal.
