Nashik: Three teenagers were on Wednesday arrested on charges of raping a minor girl at her residence before setting her on fire in which she suffered 96 per cent burns, police said.

In a ghastly incident, the accused trio forcefully gained entry into the house of the the 14-year-old victim at Aringale Farm in Nashik Road area when her parents were away and took turns to rape her, they said, adding the boys then set her ablaze.

The accused have been booked under section 307 (attempt to murder) and section 376 (rape) of the IPC. The names of the victim as well as the accused have been withheld by the police.

According to sources at Bytco Hospital in Nashik where the girl was admitted post the incident, her chances of survival are slim. Meanwhile, a juvenile court has remanded the trio to a remand home.

A 'baba' was arrested for allegedly raping a local singer, police said here today.

"'Baba' Rajesh Kumar alias Rana was arrested yesterday after a local singer lodged a complaint with Kapurthala police that he raped her under the pretext of marrying her," City SHO Amrik Singh Chahal said.

He was produced before a Judicial magistrate today who remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.

In her complaint, the victim said she had met Rana seven years ago. He promised her that he will record and release an album of her songs and share the profit with her. Rane also said he will marry her and both started living together in rented rooms at different places.

A criminal facing murder charges and released two days back on bail from jail allegedly raped a 25-year-old woman at knifepoint in Bhande plot area in eastern part of the city, police said today.

Notorious criminal Bunty Ramdas Thaware (27) had harassed the victim previously and she had already lodged a complaint against him with the police, they said.

A 26-year-old 'baba' was arrested here for allegedly raping a teenaged girl who had approached him for counselling as she was repeatedly sexually abused by her previous employer, police said today.

Baba Wam Dev Ram alias Bam Dev, who also goes by the name Ramji Maharaj, was apprehended from Punjabi Bagh yesterday, ACP (West) V Renganathan said.

"Ramji, who hails from Heala Ranchi in Jharkhand, is wanted in a gang rape case lodged in Rani Bagh police station. He was also arrested in a kidnapping case in 2006 in Simdega of Jharkhand," he said.

The 18-year-old victim had approached police in May claiming that she was raped by the 'baba' who was asked to counsel her as she was a rape victim.

"She told us that she was repeatedly raped by one man while she was working in Amritsar. In April 2011, a woman brought her to Delhi. She told her about the incident of rape in Amritsar. In May, the woman discussed her case with the 'baba', who used to give counseling to tribal girls.

A married woman in Chandigarh has alleged she was gangraped by her ex-boyfriend and his accomplices for over one-and-a half months after they abducted her in May, police said on Sunday.

The crime was confirmed by medical examination.

The victim, in her complaint to the police, said she was able to escape from the clutches of her tormenters on Saturday evening.

Calls for action against policemen who released medical report on rape victim

Even as the Kashmir Valley observed a complete shutdown on Saturday protesting against the alleged rape of a young woman in Kulgam, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat demanded an impartial probe, and also action against policemen who had released a medical report on the victim and a compact disk containing her statements.

Speaking to The Hindu, Ms. Karat expressed surprise at “the way police released the so-called medical report about the victim and also the CD”

“It is aimed at influencing the inquiry and the public opinion and it is reprehensible. The concerned officers should be suspended,” said Ms. Karat, who arrived here on a two-day visit as part of an 11-member consultative committee of MPs on women's empowerment

It was unethical and unlawful to disclose the identity of the rape victim, she said. “How can they do this and violate the protocol set for such cases.” The police action was highly provocative. “We will have to wait for investigation but it has to be independent.”

SRINAGAR: The medical examination of the 30-year-old South Kashmir woman who accused two army soldiers of raping her two days earlier "showed no marks of violence or resistance on any part of the body, especially her private parts", a police spokesman said on Saturday. 

The woman had alleged that two Rashtriya Rifles soldiers from a nearby camp in Gujjardara-Manzgam in Kulgam district had abducted her on Tuesday and raped her over the next two days.

Officials said a special investigation team has been constituted to further probe the allegations. A senior police officer would head the panel. Srinagar-based 15th Corps chief Lt General Syed Ata Hasnain on Friday denied the allegations, saying it was impossible for the accused to hide the woman from their unit for 48 hours.

Man sentenced to death for raping daughter in Pakistan.

A Pakistani court has awarded the death sentence to a man for raping his 15-year-old daughter.

Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Khan Niazi handed down the capital punishment yesterday after the charge against Khalid Amin was proved. Khan's ex-wife Parveen Bibi filed a First Information Report at Kahna police station in Lahore, accusing her former husband of raping their daughter for a month in 2009.

Amin divorced Parveen in 2008 and the couple's two daughters and four sons were living with the father. The girl testified in court that her father raped her for at least a month.

The army has initiated an internal probe after a woman alleged abduction and rape by two men in uniform in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, a top army official said on Friday while hinting it could be an attempt to destroy the peace.

"I want to make it clear that this is an allegation and if there is truth in it, then it is a criminal act which warrants strict action against the guilty," Lt Gen S.A. Hasnain, general officer commanding (GOC) 15th Corps, said at a press conference here Friday.

"The army is giving full cooperation to police and the state government. We have also ordered our own probe into the incident."

Rukaya Bano, a married woman said to be aged around 30, has alleged in south Kashmir's Kulgam district that she had been abducted on Tuesday and raped by two army men who had detained her in a meadow hutment for two days. There was a complete shutdown in Kulgam town on Friday where tensions are high because of the alleged incident.

Hasnain said here, "Damhal Hanjipora police station has filed an FIR of abduction and rape against two unknown uniformed men.

Protests erupted in Damhal Hanjipora area of Kulgam district on Thursday after a 22-year-old woman alleged she was abducted and raped by two armymen. The police have lodged an FIR against two unnamed army personnel. Shafaqat Watali, deputy inspector general, south Kashmir, told 

HT, the woman, a resident of Manzgam village, around 100 km from Srinagar, had said the incident occurred on Tuesday. The men, according to her, belonged to 66 Rashtriya Rifles.

“First she accused some unnamed army personnel of abduction and rape. Then she retracted her statement and accused a local,” said Watali.

Goa police arrests a kho kho coach from Uttar Pradesh for raping a 16-year-old player in a hotel room near Colva beach - Reuters.

The police here have arrested a kho-kho coach from Uttar Pradesh after he raped a 16-year-old player in a hotel room near Colva beach, 40km from here on Monday.

A police official said that the coach Amit Ragi had lured the minor girl to Goa from Bijnor, in Uttar Pradesh, by telling her that the beach resort destination was hosting a national kho kho selection camp.

"The girl was terrified after the incident and secretly got in touch with a waiter, who informed us. She is a Class 11 student in a government college in Bijnor in UP," a police official attached to the Colva police station said.

Accused Vickey, owner of the jewellery shop, had given an advertisement seeking women for job in his shop, police said.

The victim came to the accused for an interview. Vickey allegedly mixed some intoxicant in her drink and later raped her late last night.

San Francisco:  Jaycee Dugard, the California woman kidnapped in 1991 and held captive for nearly two decades, talked through tears about both the pain and determination she felt as she gave birth to her captor's child in his backyard while she was still just a girl herself.

Dugard was clear and composed throughout the interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer on her show "Primetime" that aired Sunday night, but grew emotional when she talked about seeing the first of two girls fathered by Phillip Garrido.

When Sawyer asked how old she was at the time of the birth in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Antioch she said "14" with a small, incredulous laugh and a shake of her head.

"It was very painful," said Dugard, now 31, as tears welled in her eyes. "She was beautiful. I felt like I wasn't alone anymore."

She said she didn't know how she could protect the child, but said "I knew I could never let anything happen to her."

Dugard appeared younger than her 31 years as she talked to Sawyer on a couch and on a porch at her California home. The blond hair she had in now-familiar photographs from her childhood is now reddish-brown, and she wore a red sweater and a necklace with a pinecone charm on it, representing the last thing she touched before her 18-year captivity.

The interview came on the eve of Dugard's memoir about her time in captivity, "A Stolen Life," which will be released this week.

Truly courageous women or girl of her age to have survived this kind of ordeal!

Beed (Maharashtra):  A 16-year-old girl was burnt alive by her neighbour on Wednesday after she resisted an attempt to rape. The incident happened in Maharashtra's Beed district.

Yesterday evening, when the girl was alone at her home, her neighbour, Jeevan Kale, tried to rape her. But when she resisted, he poured kerosene on the girl and set her on fire.

The girl died in hospital late last night and was cremated today morning.
