JULIAN JONES MURDER CASE: Javaris Crittenton at California airport!!

For LEED Consultancy / IGBC Certifications, Green Building Design, Green Homes, Green Factory Buildings, Green SEZs, Green Townships & Energy Audits - www.greentekindika.com

By Christian Boone, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution / 11:49 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011.

Julian Jones, a 22-year old mother of four, was killed in a drive-by shooting on Aug. 19. A murder warrant in the slaying has been issued for former Georgia Tech basketball player Javaris Crittenton.

The FBI said former Georgia Tech basketball star Javaris Crittenton was arrested at a Southern California airport Monday night and will face a murder charge in an Atlanta shooting.

He was taken into custody at John Wayne Airport after checking in for a Delta Air Lines flight to Atlanta, the FBI said. He was arrested without incident and will be held overnight in police custody, authorities said.

Crittenton's lawyer said his client had agreed to surrender to local authorities who've charged him in the shooting death of a 22-year-old mother of four.

Crittenton was scheduled to be on a red-eye flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta, said attorney Brian Steel, retained by family members earlier Monday.

"Mr. Crittenton wants to clear his name," Steel told the AJC. "He's innocent of the charges."

The FBI 's Atlanta office on Monday obtained a federal arrest warrant for Crittenton, charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. He's wanted in Atlanta for the Aug. 19 shooting of 22-year-old Julian Jones, hit by bullets apparently intended for someone known by the mother of four, APD Maj. Keith Meadows said.

Jones was walking with a group that included, according to police, the man Crittenton believed had robbed him of jewelry in April. Witnesses told police the shots were fired near Jones' Macon Drive home in southwest Atlanta from a black Chevrolet Tahoe linked to the former prep standout.

BARACK Obama's long-lost "Uncle Omar" has been arrested for alleged drink-driving outside Boston and detained as an illegal immigrant, The Times can reveal.

The arrest ends a mystery over the fate of a relative that the US President wrote in his memoir had moved to America from Kenya in the 1960s, although the circumstances of his discovery may now prove to be an embarrassment for the White House.

Official records say Onyango Obama, 67, was picked up outside the Chicken Bone Saloon in Framingham, Massachusetts, at 7.10pm on August 24. Police say he nearly crashed his Mitsubishi 4x4 into a patrol car, and then insisted that the officer should have given way to him. A report filed with the Framingham District Court said that a breathalyser at the police station registered his blood alcohol at 0.14mg/100ml of blood, above the state limit of 0.08mg.

According to a local newspaper, Mr Obama was charged with driving under the influence and driving to endanger, as well as failing to use a turn signal. He was detained as an illegal immigrant because the US Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement has an outstanding warrant for him because he was previously ordered to be deported to Kenya.

The Times has established from his birthdate that Mr Obama is the Uncle Omar mentioned in President Obama's best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father. In the 1995 book, President Obama writes of "the uncle who had left for America 25 years ago and had never come back".

Former Transport Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Tiruchi district secretary K.N. Nehru, former MLA Anbil Periyasamy and Tiruchi Deputy Mayor M. Anbazhagan were among seven persons arrested by the police here on Thursday on the charge of forcibly acquiring a piece of land from a doctor for building the party’s district office in Tiruchi.
They were arrested by the City Crime Branch based on a complaint filed by K. Srinivasan, a medical practitioner of Thuraiyur near Tiruchi, alleging that 13,920 square feet of land held by his family was illegally encroached upon and later taken over by Mr. Nehru and 10 others for constructing the party office, Kalaignar Arivalayam, near the Chathram Bus Stand in the city.
Kalaignar Arivalayam was declared open by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in September 2008. The building is spread over about 56,000 square feet of land and the value of the portion of land held by Dr. Srinivasan’s family was estimated at Rs. 10 crore, police said.
The land, Dr. Srinivasan alleged in his complaint, was illegally encroached upon during December 2006 by some persons on the instructions of Mr. Nehru. Subsequently, he, his wife Manimegalai and father Krishnasamy were forcibly taken to the office of Mr. Nehru at Thillai Nagar by Mr. Anbazhagan and others. They were allegedly threatened there by Mr. Nehru, his brother K.N. Ramajeyam, Anbil Periyasamy, Anbazhagan and Kudamuritti Sekar, a party functionary.
Dr. Srinivasan claimed he was also assaulted on the occasion, resulting in his teeth being broken. He was forced to sign an unregistered agreement for the "sale" of his land to the DMK. Though an "advance" of Rs. 40 lakh was given to him, the money was robbed by DMK men when he was returning home.

Phone hacking: News of the World Hollywood reporter is arrested!

The News of the World journalist James Desborough has been arrested over alleged phone hacking at the paper. Photograph: James Young/Press Gazette.
James Desborough, an award-winning reporter at the former News of the World newspaper, has been arrested by officers investigating the phone-hacking scandal.
Desborough was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to intercept communications, contrary to section 1 (1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977 after arriving at a south London police station on Thursday morning at 10.30am. He had arrived at the station by appointment for questioning about criminal activities at the paper.
The allegations are believed to relate to events prior to Desborough being promoted to be the newspaper's Los Angeles-based US editor in April 2009.
He was given the job less than a month after winning the British Press Award for showbusiness reporter of the year.
His move to the US makes his arrest, the 13th made by Operation Weeting, particularly significant. If Desborough was involved in hacking while in Britain, as police appear to believe he was, it raises the question of whether he practised those techniques in the US – and if so, whether he was the first and only News of the World journalist in the US to do so.
At the 2009 British Press Awards ceremony, Desborough was praised by judges for his series of "uncompromising scoops which mean no celebrity with secrets can sleep easy". He was presented with his award by Jon Snow, the respected Channel 4 journalist and anchorman.

Desborough continued to win plaudits after his move to America. Ian Halperin, a Hollywood author, described him as someone who "never gets his facts wrong. He's a rock solid reporter." Hollyscope, an online site, also praised Desborough for "seem[ing] to have information that not even close family members … know."

Lee Grace Dougherty was part of a trio of siblings wanted for crimes in the Southeast. They were captured in Colorado.

(CNN) -- Just before she and her two brothers were captured after a manhunt lasting more than a week, Lee Grace Dougherty pointed her machine pistol at a Colorado police chief, but the chief fired his .40-caliber handgun first, wounding her in the right upper thigh, according to an investigator's affidavits released Thursday.

"I pointed the gun at the cop," Dougherty told the FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation agent Christian L. Mohr.

"I deserved to get shot," Dougherty, 29, told authorities, according to Mohr's affidavit. "The cop said drop the gun."

Southeast's Daugherty siblings caught in Colorado

When she was shot, "instantly, I let go of the gun," Dougherty told the FBI. "The pain was all through my body."

The cop who wounded her was Walsenburg, Colorado, Police Chief James Chamberlain, according to the documents.

Thursday's release of the investigator's affidavits -- filed in support of the siblings' arrests -- provided new details about the moments leading up to authorities' capture of the three Dougherty siblings Wednesday. The FBI and other law agencies conducted a multistate dragnet for the trio for more than a week.

The three siblings, arrested Wednesday after a high-speed chase by police resulted in the crash of the Doughertys' vehicle on a rural Colorado highway, had their first court hearing Thursday in Pueblo, but the three waived their right to appear, according to CNN affiliates KGTV and KUSA.

A public defender represented them in their absence, according to the CNN affiliates.

Lee Grace Dougherty, brother Ryan Edward Dougherty, 21, and half-brother Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26, face numerous charges.

The three were wanted in an armed bank robbery in Georgia and were suspects in the attempted murder of a Florida police officer. Both incidents occurred August 2.
