General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Srinagar based 15 Corps Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain was among the first buyers of the autobiography of hard-line Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani here on Thursday.

Wular Kinarey (on the banks of Wular) sold like hot cakes on the first day itself. Besides admirers of Mr. Geelani, political leaders, top security officials and academics have placed their orders. The autobiography touches Mr. Geelani's life up to 1970s.

“Hasnain sahib asked for three copies of Geelani's autobiography. We handed the copies over to the personnel sent by him at the venue of the book release,” Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said.

Mr. Geelani plans to release the second part of the book, which will deal with his life up to 2011, soon. “The next edition will answer the most frequently asked questions about Geelani's unchanging stand with the changing global times on the Kashmir dispute,” said Akbar.

So far, Mr. Geelani is known as a hard-liner, who opposes every move to initiate dialogue between Srinagar and New Delhi or even New Delhi and Islamabad.

The book is also being read in the political circles opposed to Geelani's ideology. “It will give an insider's view about the man, with whom you may disagree ideologically, but has been able to attract people's attention,” said spokesman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Naeem Akhtar.

The book reveals unheard details of the Hurriyat leader's life such as Mr. Geelani doing menial jobs at the house of famous Urdu writer Muhammad Din Fauq's daughter in Lahore.

Well, we all know the Old-Man Gilani has more fans on the other side of the border than in Jammu & Kashmir!

01)  Authorities trying to disconnect me from people: Syed Ali Gilani

In occupied Kashmir, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the occupation authorities are using house arrest as a tool to disconnect him from the people.

According to KMS, Syed Ali Gilani in a media interview in Srinagar said that placing him under house arrest despite puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s statement clearly showed that police was at the helm of affairs in the occupied territory. “The authorities are leaving no stone unturned to de-link me from my people by using the house arrest as a tool. If the Government can hold a senior leader like me hostage on gun-point, the fate of common Kashmiris can be imagined,” he said.

The veteran Hurriyet leader said that he was scheduled to address a rally at Humhama on Friday to mark the death anniversary of people killed there during last year’s uprising. He said that thousands of people were scheduled to participate in the rally during which the forum would have pressed for release of political prisoners. “However, as I stepped out of my house, a heavy contingent of police stopped me saying I have been placed under house arrest,” he added.

02) Gilani asks parties to support govt efforts on Kashmir

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has asked opposition parties to back his government's efforts on the Kashmir issue so that a strong case on it can be presented to the world community.

"The opposition should gracefully accept their defeat in the (Pakistan-occupied) Kashmir polls and back the government's efforts on the Kashmir cause so that we can strongly present its case to the world," said Gilani.

Lasting peace in the region could not be achieved till a solution to the Kashmir issue is found, Gilani said while talking to a group of journalists at his residence here yesterday.

Kashmir: Finally, voices against Geelani's shutdown politics!

As the Kashmir valley witnessed a shutdown on the call of hard-line Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday, many voices have finally surfaced against the separatists' hartal politics. Chief minister Omar Abdullah also criticized the traders for closing their businesses for the day.

Most shops, business establishments, shopping malls, private schools, colleges and banks remained closed. There was a very thin presence of public transport on the roads. Most towns in north and south Kashmir also observed a shutdown. Geelani had called for a protest against "fresh wave of arrests."

"They (traders) are free to choose to shutdown but then they shouldn't expect to be compensated by the government for doing so is my only point," tweeted Abdullah on micro-blogging site twitter.

This is the cost of being Democratic!

'Prayers for Osama': EU delegation snubs Geelani, cancels meeting!

In an apparent fall out of holding funeral prayers for Osama bin Laden, an European Union delegation snubbed hard line Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani by cancelling a scheduled meeting.

"A meeting was initially planned for the May 14 with Syed Ali Shah Geelani, but given the latest events, the EU delegation considers it inopportune to hold the meeting," a statement from the delegation said.

His brand of Kashimiri Politics has lost sheen long back, but the old man wouldn't listen to the peoples' aspirations, there.

Syed Ali Shah Geelani will now mourn death of Osama Bin Laden, Home only!

As he is now in house arrest, he will have to mourn the death of Osama Bin Laden, at home only.  There won’t be any crowd prayers for the deceased Osama Bin Laden.

Will he be formally arrested and charged for sedition against India?

Syed Ali Shah Geelani calls for mourning prayers for Osama Bin Laden!

He calls for such prayers to be held after during Friday Prayers or just after that, but should India allow it?

We file sedition charges against people who have been doing social service like free medical aid, etc. (remember Dr. Binayak Sen) and event sentence to life imprisonment.

And we are scared of prosecuting someone like Syed Ali Shah Geelani who talks about secession of Kashmir (or whatever is left with India) and join Pakistan.

At the cost of being charged with some or other crime, I would say that if Mrs. Indira Gandhi were alive, Today, by now she would not have jailed him and his ilk but also would have split P-A-I-S-T-A-N into Eight Pieces.

Osama is a Martyr! Says, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Pro-Pakistani Kashimi Leader.

Yes, sir he died but like a wild animal chased and killed and not like a martyr, as you would want us to believe.

.

Before that, he ordered the slaughter of thousands of innocent citizens, from across the globe belonging to all age groups, right from infants in the lap of Mothers, to the kids, to the young, to the middle aged to the old aged – irrespective of their religious affinities, none of the victims been part of the so-called American imperialism.  

And believe me there is no honor in killing innocents nor has any religion sanctioned such mindless mayhem against unconnected people.

No true Muslim would subscribe to your skewed views on the above.
