Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit, the prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, told the Bombay High Court on Tuesday that he “mingled” with other accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Dayanand Pandey as part of a “covert military intelligence operation.”
Arguing for bail, counsel for Purohit, Shrikant Shivade said: “He had mingled with the other accused and attended meetings with them so as to get intelligence information. Purohit had informed his superiors in the Army about the meetings and discussions.”
After his arrest, Purohit requested the Chief of the Army Staff to permit him to disclose the army operations to the investigating agencies, but he was not allowed to do so, he said.

01) Unbelievable defence; Indian Armed Forces' Intelligence Wings do not infiltrate Suspected Terrorist outfits!

02) It is the assigned duty of the Intelligence Wings of the Home Ministry!!

03) A co-conspirator of the bombings of Malegaon and Samjhauta Express Blast Cases cannot be an Honourable Indian Army Officer!!!

Samjhauta case: Hearing on charge sheet on August 17.

A special court hearing the Samjhauta blast case today fixed August 17 as the next date for hearing on the charge sheet filed in the matter by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
During the in-camera proceedings in the case, the NIA submitted the "deficient documents" related to the case and also told the court that it would file a supplementary charge sheet against some other accused soon.
However, the NIA sought some time from the court so that it could file the supplementary charge sheet in the case, defence counsel Manveer Rathi said. The NIA had on June 20 charged Swami Aseemanand and four others with triggering explosions in the cross-border Samjhauta Express in 2007 that left 68 people dead and 12 injured.
