Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has identified and submitted details of bank accounts held by former president Pervez Musharraf to an anti-terrorist court which will decide on possible seizure of his assets.

The details were collected by the State Bank of Pakistan on request of the FIA after an anti-terrorism court declared the former President a 'proclaimed offender' or fugitive for failing to cooperate with investigators probing former premier Benazir Bhutto's assassination.

The anti-terrorism court, which is conducting the trial of five suspects charged with involvement in Bhutto's killing, has also issued a permanent arrest warrant for Musharraf.

Prosecutors had asked the court to seize Musharraf's moveable and immovable assets, following which the judge directed authorities to submit details of the assets.

The information has been submitted to the anti-terrorism court, The News daily quoted its sources as saying.

It is rumoured that he has already stashed away billions of dollars before he escaped Pakistan and what is left behind is a pittance!

• A Pakistani anti-terrorism court today issued a permanent non-bailable arrest warrant for former President Pervez Musharraf for failing to cooperate with investigators probing the 2007 assassination of ex-premier Benazir Bhutto.
  Prosecutors from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) told Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed of the Rawalpindi-based anti-terrorism court that Musharraf had not appeared in court even after being issued summons and declared a 'proclaimed offender' or fugitive.
  They asked the court to issue a permanent arrest warrant. Taking note of this, the judge issued a fresh and permanent non-bailable arrest warrant for Musharraf, currently living in self-exile outside Pakistan. The prosecutors also asked the court to issue orders to confiscate Musharraf's moveable and immovable property. The judge directed authorities to submit details of his assets at the next hearing and adjourned the case for two weeks.
  01)  It is very unlikely he would ever return to his homeland, which he left in 2008, though he has been telling that he would return, periodically.
  
  
  02)  It is also unlikely that Pak. Courts would be able to execute these warrants, as it is ultimately the Administration there which, has to put pressure on his host-country, whichever it is.
  
  
  03)  Further given his international connections & / or wealth, there are more than a few countries which would shelter him, for good.

• A Pakistani anti-terrorism court on Monday declared former president Pervez Musharraf a ‘proclaimed offender’ or fugitive for failing to cooperate with investigators probing the 2007 assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto.
  Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed of the Rawalpindi-based court declared Musharraf, currently living in self-exile outside Pakistan, a fugitive on the request of the Federal Investigation Agency.
  Prosecutors told the judge during proceedings held in Adiala Jail for security reasons that they had been unable to serve an arrest warrant issued by the court for Musharraf.

Pervez Musharraf says to return to Pakistan for 2012 polls!

DUBAI: Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf plans to return to his homeland next year in order to stand in elections, an Emirati newspaper quoted him as saying Saturday. 

"I am going to land in Lahore on the 23rd of March, 2012, if not earlier -- but not later," Musharraf said in Dubai, according to the report in The National. 


General Musharaff, you have been giving such deadlines of your return to Pakistan, ever since you, you ran away from Pakistan in 2008.  You better face several criminal cases pending against you in the Pakistani Courts or else they would extradite you.
