Beating odds of a billion to one, a woman in the UK gave birth to twins, who are from two different fathers.

Mum Charlotte Hilbrandt became pregnant by ex-husband Michael and new boyfriend Tommy when she slept with both men within 48 hours.

It means that twins Marcus and Lucas, who turned six last week and were born just 48 minutes apart, are one of only three known sets of twins in the world who are genetic half-brothers.

“You have a bigger chance of winning the lottery than something like this happening,” the Mirror quoted 38-year-old Charlotte as saying.

She is the first to admit her boys are like chalk and cheese. Cheeky Marcus, her son by Michael, is short and stout, red-haired with bundles of energy. His twin Lucas, her son by Tommy, is taller, blonde and has a gentler, calm manner.

In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old newly wed girl, who declined to live with her 50-year-old husband, was allegedly strangled to death by her father and other family members at Kasan village in Kaithal district of Haryana.

Mukesh was married to Jayveer as per a custom that involves an arrangement between two families in which a girl is married off to a man of other family provided the family agrees to marry off one of their girls to a boy of the first family, villagers said.

The families of Inder, a resident of Kasan, and Jayveer of Koth village in Hisar district decided to marry girls of each other's families.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 4 (NDTV): After the shocking story of a girl from Kerala who was sexually abused by 100 people including her own father, a similar case has now come to light.


A 14-year-old minor was forced into prostitution by her own father.


Police have arrested three accused including the girl's father and a hunt is on for seven others.


"The girl has complained that she was sexually exploited for the last three months by 10 people and that her father had facilitated it," said Tomy Sebastian, Deputy Superintendent of Police.


"I was only involved initially. Later it was done by other people," said her father.

Kerala police sent teams to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka to nab people involved in the act - Reuters.

Police teams have been sent to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and various parts of Kerala to nab at least 70 persons for alleged sexual exploitation of a 14-year old girl in connivance with her father.

The action came after the girl revealed to police about her sexual exploitation, including by her own father, police said.

The child is being treated for venereal diseases at a government hospital here, according to police who believe that 100 odd persons might be involved in the case, 29 of whom had been arrested in recent days.
