Veteran Congress leader N.D. Tiwari, facing paternity suit of a man claiming to be his biological son, today filed a 'personal affidavit' before the Delhi High Court saying no person can be compelled to give blood samples for DNA test against his will.

"At this age of mine and unblemished public record for approximately 70 years to this nation I rely on Supreme Court judgments and feel protected against any compulsion for the DNA test," 87-year-old Tiwari said in his affidavit. The Congress leader has cited various apex court judgments to justify his stand of not giving blood samples for the DNA test.

NEW DELHI: The plea of DMK MP Kanimozhi that bail be granted to her as she was summoned and not arrested even during the probe in the 2G case did not find favour with the Delhi High Court which rejected her bail plea. 

"Issuing summons instead of warrants is not an assurance that the accused shall be granted bail on his appearance in the court," Justice Ajit Bharihoke said. 

The court, which also dismissed the bail application of Kalaignar TV MD and CEO Sharad Kumar, said the issuance of summons has nothing to do with the grant or refusal of bail.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday reserved order on the bail plea of DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar, accused in the 2G scam.

Kanimozhi along with Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar had moved the Delhi High Court challenging a trial court's order against the dismissal of their bail pleas on May 20.

Kanimozhi has been charged as a co-conspirator of former Telecom Minister A Raja in 2G scam.

Delhi high court blast: One detained in UP!

One person was detained in Uttar Pradesh on Friday in connection with the low-intensity explosion outside the Delhi high court. Investigators, however, said they were yet to make any concrete breakthrough in the case.

The Delhi police has been insisting that the explosion was not aimed at causing any major damage but to create a scare. Sources said the blast had the typical signatures of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen.

A team of Delhi police's special cell investigating the case conducted raids in Pilkhuwa in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night and picked up one youngster. The youngster was picked up for his links with a terrorist, who used to live in his village two decades ago.

Delhi Police contention that these low intensity blasts are not to kill anyone but to scare the people.  My question is whom are they intend to scare of what and why?

NEW DELHI: A low-intensity bomb exploded on Wednesday outside the busy Delhi High Courttriggering panic but no one was injured.

The explosive, kept in a packet near a car belonging to a lawyer, went off at 1.15 pm causing panic, police said.

The car caught fire after the explosion. Personnel of the Delhi Police's special cell, anti-terror unit and bomb detection and disposal unit were immediately rushed to the site along with fire brigade.
