Pakistan's army chief is fighting to save his position in the face of ‘seething anger’ in the army establishment over the American raid that killed Osama bin Laden, according to the New York Times.

Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, who has led the army since 2007, "faces such intense discontent over what is seen as his cosy relationship with the US that a colonels' coup, while unlikely, was not out of the question," the influential US daily said in a report from Islamabad citing Pakistani officials.

The Pakistani Army is essentially run by consensus among 11 top commanders, known as the Corps Commanders, and almost all of them, if not all, were demanding that General Kayani get much tougher with the Americans, even edging toward a break, the Times said.

Yes, he would go the way Gen. Musharraf went, the coup way, as I predicted on May 06, 2011!

WIKILEAKS, Pak Cables: Kayani manipulating govt on Af-Pak policy!

Pakistan's powerful military chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani [ Images ] is "manipulating" the government and parliament to prevent them from changing their policy on restive Pak-Afghan border, a top French official believes.

According to a secret United States diplomatic cable dated dated January 22, 2010 disclosed by whistle-blower website WikiLeaks and published in the Dawn newspaper, head of the French government's inter-agency Afghanistan-Pakistan cell Jasmine Zernini told American officials that although Kayani had "learned the lesson of Musharraf" and was staying behind the scenes.

But, she felt he was manipulating the government and parliament, including to prevent change on Pakistan's policy towards the Federally Administered Tribal Areas along the Afghan border, and also to stir up controversy regarding the Kerry-Lugar bill."

In the same cable, Mariot Leslie, the director general, defence and intelligence of the foreign and Commonwealth Office of the British government expressed satisfaction that China had "dumped" Pakistan in the Conference on Disarmament which in her opinion was a "good sign." The dismissive attitude towards Pakistan is, however, not limited to Western governments.

Yes, if it ends he will not have control of the Pakistani Affairs, as their Arm's importance diminishes, drastically.

General Khyani warns India of undertaking any misadventure as that of USA!

OK, Mr. General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, first show some such bravado against USA, which Navy Seals Commandos have just done something to one of your protected.

If India wanted to do any such thing it would have done the same day when your trained terrorists have done very nasty mayhem in Mumbai.

Since, unlike yours, we are democracy, we have put that one terrorist (Mohammed Ajmal Amir alias Kasab) who survived our defense, through our democratic legal process and gave him all the possible free aid including legal one.
