A Special Court on Saturday rejected the joint application filed by Sasikala Natarajan and Ilavarasi, the second and fourth accused in the disproportionate case filed against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, for recalling the investigating officer and adjourned the case to September 6.

Earlier the counsel representing the first accused (Ms. Jayalalithaa), A. Kandaswamy filed an application before the court seeking three weeks adjournment in the light of Special Leave Petition filed before the Supreme Court against the Special Court’s order of August 12, rejecting the applications filed by Ms. Jayalalithaa seeking exemption from personal appearance, which is pending.
The Special Court in its order had also rejected applications filed seeking permission to make a written submission or depose through video conferencing.
To avoid further delay in the proceedings, the accused subsequently approached the apex court on August 17 and filed an SLP before it against the Special Court order.
