Aug. 1: In its report to the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation has apparently suggested that unless a full-fledged investigation is taken up into the land deals of Emaar and corruption charges against YSR Congress president and Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, concrete cases cannot be built against them.
Sources pointed out that during its 17-day preliminary probe, the Bureau had unearthed several procedural violations and monetary transactions between the companies and officials regarding land allotments and other benefits granted by the government.
CBI finds ‘leads’ for case on Jagan
After going through the documents and note files pertaining to land allotments and exemptions granted by the government to various companies and individuals, the CBI had found “leads” to establish the case prima facie, said sources. Referring to money laundering allegations and foreign investments in companies owned by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, the CBI is said to have noted that the allegations can be proved only through a regular inquiry as the preliminary probe did not permit it to look into the documents pertaining to Foreign Direct Investments (FDI).
