New Delhi: Is Team Anna divided over bringing the Prime Minister under Lokpal's ambit? Two of Anna Hazare supporters - Swami Agnivesh and Arvind Kejriwal - have divergent views on the issue pointing towards a difference in opinion among the civil society members on the issue.
"It is not a very sticky point for us. Corruption at the lower level of bureaucracy is the first and the foremost which concerns the common people of this country," Agnivesh told CNN-IBN when asked if including the Prime Minister under Lokpal's ambit was a major issue for the civil society members.
However, Kejriwal has made it clear that will be no negotiation on the issue.
"We are not ready to compromise with anyone till our demands are met. The deadlock continues. We are open for any dialogue but there is no invitation from the government yet," he replied when asked about Agnivesh's comments.
However, Kejriwal later claimed that Agnivesh's statement had been misinterpreted.
"I feel that the statement has been interpreted wrongly. What he said was that judiciary and the prime minister are not our top priority. The common man is our top priority," said Kejriwal with Agnivesh standing behind him.
Adopting a tough posture, Team Anna on Wednesday asked a parliamentary panel to recommend to the government to withdraw the Lokpal Bill and come out with a fresh measure which deals with problem of corruption faced by the public.
