New Delhi: Could Team Anna bend on their insistence to include the Prime Minister and Supreme Court in the Lokpal Bill? Speaking to the media on Thursday, former Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde hinted at a compromise between the government and Team Anna.
"We want strong Lokpal Bill. They are saying we are adamant on Prime Minister and the judges, I am saying I will persuade my colleagues not to be adamant on these two issues. But we have differences on eight issues. Let them agree on those issues," he said.
Some of the important differenceses between the Government draft and the civil society draft:
- Whether the Prime minister and the higher judiciary should be under the purview of the Lokpal. The government says no.
- Team Anna wants all bureaucrats to be included, the government saying yes only to the higher bureaucracy.
