Adding yet another feather to the industrial accomplishments of Coimbatore, a local firm has built one of the longest periscopes in the world, a 10-metre long instrument for viewing objects inside the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) being developed at the atomic research station at Kalpakkam.
Visual Education Aids Pvt Ltd (VEA), a Kurichi-based firm, developed the periscope with a resolution of 0.2mm line at a spacing of 0.5mm. It was dedicated to the Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Ltd (BHAVINI), Kalpakkam, at a function here on Monday.
