THOUSANDS JOIN ANNA IN DETENTION

Zeenews Bureau

New Delhi: A sea of supporters Tuesday joined Anna Hazare in the Chhatrasal Stadium jail, where the social crusader has been lodged hours after his arrest by Delhi Police from his Mayur Vihar residence.

As per reports, thousands of Anna’s supporters took to streets in the national capital and courted arrest expressing full support to his campaign for a strong anti-corruption legislation.

The protestors were first taken to Chhatrasal Stadium, which has been converted into a temporary jail, but it was soon flooded with the huge influx of Anna’s supporters, forcing the authorities to shift them to another make-shift jail in the Bawana Industrial Area.

It is being reported that a large number of Anna Hazare’s supporters are now being ferried in several buses to the make-shift jail in Bawana.

Meanwhile, three additional companies of Delhi Police have been deployed outside the Chhatrasal Stadium jail to prevent any untoward incident.

However, there has been no official word on Anna Hazare’s location and it is being reported that the noted Gandhian is being taken to a nearby hospital for medical check-up.

Meanwhile, a large number of his supporters have gathered outside the Rajouri Garden office of the DCP, where top officials of the Delhi Police are currently locked in close door meeting on how to tackle the situation after the post Anna’s arrest.

Interestingly, Anna today begun his indefinite fast to press for a strong Lokpal Bill even while in detention.

Anna and his key supporters were taken to the stadium in separate vehicles shortly after they were picked up from different locations.

Anna launched his fast in police custody at around 10 am soon after his arrest for sticking to his plan to defy prohibitory orders and stage a protest against corruption here.
