An eight-year-old boy is suspected to have been murdered after being physically abused by some youth in Tirumangalam, in Tamil Nadu.
Police found the dead body of Jeyasuriya inside a wooden box in the panchayat union school on Sunday after the locals complained of stench emanating from the school.
His parents had preferred a complaint with the Tirumangalam taluk police the previous day stating that their son who went out to play with other boys did not return home even late at night and he could not be found in the locality even after an intense search.
The second of three sons, Jeyasuriya was studying class 3 in a private school near Alampatti.
The police identified the body stuffed inside the box as Jeyasuriya. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were pressed into service. The boy’s body was sent to Tirumangalam government hospital for post-mortem.
