The special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Court on Friday remanded an accused in police custody for allegedly providing the weapon used for killing senior crime reporter J Dey till July 28.
Deepak Sisodia, who had allegedly given the .32 mm US-made revolver to alleged Chotta Rajan aide Satish Kalya near Nainital was arrested by the Nainital police.
Dey (56), working with the city-based English tabloid Mid Day, was shot dead by four motorcycle-borne assailants in suburban Powai on June 11.
Police had claimed that the journalist was eliminated at the behest of gangster Chhota Rajan, who paid Rs 5 lakh to the accused. However, they said the motive behind the killing was not yet clear.
Sisodia is the ninth accused to be arrested in the case.
