New Delhi: The Delhi high court on Monday awarded a compensation of Rs 15 lakhs each to the family of Pradeep Goyal and Jagjit Singh who were gunned down in a fake encounter in Connaught Place 14 years ago.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has to pay this amount to the respective families in six weeks.
The petition had been filed by the victims' families in 1997.
A Delhi Police team had killed the two businessmen - Pradeep Goyal and his associate Jagjit Singh - mistaking them to be gangsters.
