A man claiming to be a film and TV serial producer was arrested for allegedly cheating Bollywood personalities over Rs 95 lakh on the pretext of providing them MHADA flats at cheaper rates in the metropolis, police said on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Virendra Kumar, was arrested from his residence in Twin Tower at Oshiwara on Wednesday when he was preparing to flee to Canada in a bid to evade arrest, they said.
The FIR was registered against Virendra on June 28 after lyricist Sameer Pandey and film composer Aadesh Shrivastav's brother Chitresh, who died recently, filed written complaints in this regard in March, said D K Rupwate, Senior Inspector at Oshiwara police station.
