New Delhi:  The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probing the 2G spectrum scam will look into the extra spectrum allocated during the NDA rule. The parliamentary probe panel says extra spectrum was allocated without Cabinet approval between 2001 and 2003.

This comes after the deposition of the former Chairman of the Telecom regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) MS Verma today. Verma told the probe panel that TRAI has no powers to criticise decisions taken by the government.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) had yesterday said that the exchequer lost over Rs. 43,500 crore due to the implementation of the migration policy during the NDA regime.

A figure of Rs.s. 43,523.92/- crores alleged loss to the exchequer is, indeed, a worthy reason for a deeper probe!
