If the jailed former CWG chief and Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi expressed his “inability” to attend the forthcoming Monsoon Session, law minister M. Veerappa Moily left it to the courts to decide whether DMK MPs A. Raja and Kanimozhi, both lodged in Tihar Jail, can attend Parliament.
In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Friday, Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi has expressed his inability to attend the coming Monsoon Session of the Lok Sabha. Sources said Mr Kalmadi asked for the relief “due to prevailing circumstances”.
Mr Kalmadi, who represents Pune in Lok Sabha, was removed as Congress parliamentary party secretary and sacked as the Commonwealth Games organising committee chief. He was arrested by the CBI in alleged irregularities in the conduct of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
