June 10:They went to the Gulf country to seek employment and a better standard of living for their families, but little did they know what was in store. One of them is named Tyaga Raju. He is from Devakkapatnam village, Bhimgal mandal in Nizamabad district. He went to Bahrain three years ago to work for a construction company, Abdul Naas.
Since there was no proper food, accommodation and salary as promised, 128 workers left the company. The company filed a case against the workers in the Bahrain Court and got a favourable order. The Bahrain court imposed a travel ban on all 128 workers. Those who want to return home will have to pay a fine of 497 Dinars each(Rs 70,000).
According to Mr M. Bheem Reddy from the Migrant Rights Council, the Abdul Naas company was blacklisted by the Government of India, but the employer and the recruiting agents, with the help of the emigration authorities, had taken the workers to Bahrain. A few days ago, 41 of these workers staged a dharna in front of the Indian Embassy, demanding their deportation. Tyaga Raju also took part in the dharna as his brother died in an accident at Karimnagar two weeks ago and his nine-year-old son is seriously injured.
