A day after talks on Lokpal Bill got deadlocked, Anna Hazare on Thursday accused the government of having no intention of enacting a strong anti-corruption law and said he will undertake an indefinite fast from August 16 if a diluted legislation is brought.

Mr. Hazare alleged that the government had “backtracked” on the promises that it would agree to all suggestions forwarded by civil society members.

He told reporters that he was “surprised” that the government wants civil society members to give a separate draft of the bill which will be brought before the Cabinet along with that of the government.

01) I have a vague feeling that 'Team Anna' is stretching it too far;  the UPA Government could indulge them in Dialogue to a great extent, despite facing flak from most Political Parties, Non-Committed Elite and some sections of NGOs and beyond that, they too have internal & external constraints.

02) Instead of giving any further pressure, which might  boomerang on their face, 'Team Anna' should join the UPA and others to rope in as many Political Parties and MPs as possible from all the political parties for, ultimately, it is them who could make or mar the prospects of any Lokpal Bill, introduced in the Parliament.

03) Once, a Lok Pal is in place, there will always be room for further improvisation, through public opinion and Parliamentary procedures.
