WHERE IS THE TRS? asks E. Raji Reddy in Letters to Editor of D.C.!

Brickbats, Bouquets & Backfeeds are welcome on prmadhura@yahoo.com

In the print version of Deccan Chronicle of Today, Mr. E. Raji Reddy asks, WHERE IS THE TRS?

The true copy of it (I would have given a web link, if it is available) as follows:

The Telengana Rashtra Samiti makes huge claims about its glorious sacrifices for achieving Telengana.  While it is commendable, it is difficult to understand why the activists are becoming mere spectators when farmers of the same region are bing plundered by the wily millers and selfish grain merchants in collaboration with irresponsible officials and inhuman political leaders who have sense of accountability.  All the peasants in Telegana are very poor and invest a lot of money borrowed at huge rates of interest from moneylenders in the absence of any support from banks and the agricultural department.  When they are forced to sell their hard earned harvest, especially paddy, at a loss of Rs. 200 per quintal, everybody becomes concerned about their condition.  By questioning the colluding officials in public, the TRS activists could have ensured justice for the poor farmers.  - E. RAJIREDDY / LETTERS / Deccan Chronicle, May 27, 2011.

I share your concern for the Telengana peasants and actually this is not the story of Telengana peasants alone but the peasants of the whole of India.  I tried  my best to highlight - inter alia - this one grave reality of India in my, "Mayhem of Miserables!" @ http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

Yes, as to your question why not TRS take up peasants problems, my suspicion is that the poor peasants do not carry much value in terms of party donations / political collections, where as the dishonest rice millers and the greedy grain merchants are.

Mark my words, why only TRS, all political parties having MLAs from the Telengana region wouldn't really fight for the genuine grievances of poor peasants but let government hike the taxes on millers or merchants, they all would holler the hell.

Similarly, all political parties having MLAs from Andhra, Rayalaseema, Maharastra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, et al wouldn't be fighting for the poor farmers, but would jump to support merchants, traders and industrialists, for the above reasons.
