New Delhi, May 30 (IANS) India and Germany, Europe's tech powerhouse, will Tuesday broaden the scope of their strategic dialogue when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh holds talks with visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel for closer cooperation in diverse areas ranging from counter-terrorism, defence and the sharing of technologies to climate change, trade and reform of global institutions, including the IMF.
Although Merkel will be in India for only a day, the visit promises to be a substantive one with six senior Cabinet ministers from Germany holding separate talks with their Indian counterparts to expand cooperation in areas like defence, security, renewable energy and economic ties.
This will the first inter-governmental dialogue between India and Germany, the only second such mechanism Berlin has with any non-European country after Israel.
